1. 6A: ScottCounty (8-2):

Scott County had the week off last week and will now face GeorgeRogers Clark this coming Friday in the opening round of the class 6Aplayoffs.

 

 

2. 2A: Danville (10-0):

The Ads also had the week off last week. Danville will host EastRidge in the opening round of the class 2A playoffs.

 

 

3. 3A: BoyleCounty (9-1):

The Rebels didn’t have a problem picking up their 9thwin as they throttled Mercer County 56-14. The Rebels welcome in WestCarter Friday night in the opening round of class 3A playoffs.

 

 

4. 2A: Lexington Christian (9-1):

The Eagles picked up an easy win Friday night when they de-railedEstill County 75-28 behind Logan Nieves 243 passing yards on 6/10passing and 3 TD’s. LCA will host Leslie County in the openinground of the class 2A playoffs.

 

 

5. 3A: Lexington Catholic (5-5):

The Knights came up short Friday night losing in OT to Southwesternin an high scoring affair, 53-47. The Knights will now turn theirattention to Bath County who comes to Catholic on Friday in the firstround of the class 3A playoffs.

 

 

6. 6A: Frederick Douglass (8-2):

The Broncos picked up an 28-3 win over Conner for their 8thwin on the season (3rd straight). The Broncos will hostLafayette Friday night in the first round of the class 6A playoffs.Frederick Douglass defeated Lafayette 29-14 earlier in the year,however, Lafayette has a history of losing to a team in the regularseason but defeating them in the playoffs, will this be a repeat ofyear’s past or will the Broncos get their first ever post seasonwin?

 

 

 

7. 3A:Western Hills (7-3):

Western Hills picked up a 40-13 road win over Harrison County to gettheir 7th win on the season. Western Hills will make thelong trip up to Flatwoods to take on the Red Devils of Russell in thefirst round of the class 3A playoffs.

 

 

8. 6A: TatesCreek (8-2):

Tates Creek edged out Franklin County 14-9 Friday night. Tates Creekwill welcome Bryan Station in for the second time this season, thistime, the loser will be sent home. Tates Creek defeated the defenders38-8 earlier in the season.

 

 

9. 5A: Madison Southern (7-3):

Madison Southern done everything they could but they couldn’t getpast the Wayne County Cardinals Fridays as they fell 24-14. MadisonSouthern will host Atherton this coming Friday in the opening roundof the class 5A playoffs.

 

 

10. 6A:Madison Central (6-4):

The Indians squeaked out a 12-8 win over Bryan Station on Friday butthat might not be the case this coming Friday when they host 5-5Henry Clay.

 

 

TEAMS ON THE RISE:

 

6A: Henry Clay (5-5):Henry Clay picked up a 35-7 win over Cooper and will travel toMadison Central in the opening round of the class 6A playoffs.

 

 

5A: Montgomery County (8-2):Montgomery County picked up a 39-33 win over Lincoln County Fridaynight and will now face Southern in the opening round of the class 5Aplayoffs.

 

 

 

TEAMS ON THEDOWNFALL:

 

6A: Paul Laurence Dunbar (0-10):The Bulldogs ended their season Friday night in a blowout loss 41-12to Western and this is a season that Dunbar wants to forget about,not to mention the Bulldogs are on a 13 game losing streak datingback to last season.

 

 

6A: Bryan Station (1-9):Bryan Station lost a heart breaker to Madison Central on Friday 12-8and will need everything they can think of and all the powers upabove to survive and advance against Tates Creek Friday night in theopening round of the class 6A playoffs. Station lost to Creek 38-8earlier in the season.

 

 

 

 

PLAYER OF THEWEEK:

John Brooks (JR QB Powell County) threw for 316 yards, 5 TD’s on15/27 passing in the 61-28 win over East Carter on Friday.

 

 

GAME OF THEWEEK:

Lafayette at Frederick Douglass. These two teams met up earlier thisseason at Lafayette with Douglass winning 29-14 but the Generals havea history of losing to a team in the regular season but defeatingthem in the playoffs, will this be a repeat or will the Broncos pickup the win and advance?
