Pirates with a statement win on the road against a very good team. Pirates shut down a Midland Offense in the 2nd Half that never has even been slowed. Belfry radio had CM running 19 plays for 36 yards in the 2nd Half

Wellman was a manchild!

Belfry radio had him with 30 carries for 162 yards, 2 TD, and 13 Tackles

Great game by the Pirates.

Gritty performance by Wellman on both sides of the ball. Really nice job by the offensive line. The defense has improved throughout the season, but tonight was the night they had a breakthrough. They really grew a lot tonight and they will be so much better for it.

Couple quick shout outs:

- First of all Derek Wellman is a bad, bad man

- Though Avery Browning did a fantastic job and showed lots of growth. Very patient, very smooth, made great decisions, and had a beautiful TD pass and run

- How about Freshman Seth Mounts? Played a whale of a game against some huge linemen and had two HUGE TFL's to basically ice the game

- BIG praise to the Belfry staff. Big time 2nd Half adjustments. Midland came in averaging almost 500 rushing yards per game and had 215 on the ground in the first half. They finish literally at Half of their season average and Belfry shut down a truly great RB in Ivan Vaughn in the 2nd Half

Belfrys squandering of there game with Huntington, which has proven to be a top team in WV, gave others false hope Im afraid. It's hard to believe a team could lose the talent the Pirates lost last year and be playing at the level they are now.

As any Haywood team, these Pirates continue to get better as the season progresses, which is bad for everyone else.
