Each week BGP produces a top ten of teams in each class. This week 3A looked as follows:

1. Belfry

2. Corbin

3. Boyle County

4. Elizabethtown

5. Central

6. Caldwell County

7. Lexington Catholic

8. Western Hills

9. Casey County

10. Larue County

My question is: where is the line as to who can win a state championship and who can't? Can all ten teams win a title? Can only Belfry? Who in between can be winners? Give your answer and your reasons below.

Fully equipped to win a title:

Belfry

Corbin

Boyle

Etown

Central

Will Need a Favorable Path and Matchups in Playoffs:

Caldwell

LexCath

Need A Better Team(s) to Lose Unexpectedly and Need To Play Above Their Means:

Western Hills

Waggener

Paducah Tilghman

Need A Fluke Scenario:

Casey County

Larue County

Fleming County

I think the champ will come from the top 5, and the next 2 certainly could make a run at it.

While we are talking about 3A playoffs, I don't know if I am the only one but I kind of looking forward to the cross bracketing now that it has sunk in. That isn't an endorsement of the cross bracketing, because I don't think it is the best option for this class, and I think it is going to increase travel time and expense, meaning schools will make less money. I especially don't think the 4 seeds will benefit. If I put all those practical things aside and just think like a fan, I believe I will enjoy the games.

I think it is going to make the first few rounds more interesting and the playoff run will be fun, at least for Belfry. I know Louisville will be a long trip for the regional finals game, if they make it that far. but I think playing teams with different names on their jerseys than we are used to is going to add some interest. I would rather see Waggener/Belfry in the 2nd round instead of another Russell or Lawrence Co game.

Mostly I think I am just pumped up thinking about a possible trip to Central. That really gets my juices flowing.

For those that voted "Other" who did you have in mind?

I think Carpe is a Waggener guy so I'm guessing he's thinking the Wildcats.

PTownDude is a Caldwell County so not sure why he didn't click on them, unless he's got his eyes on someone else.
