Who would you give it to?

I think there are 3 candidates in Cozart, Gennett, and Votto.

I would have to eliminate Cozart's career year because of injuries limiting him to 120 games.

Tough choice between Gennett and Votto. Yes they could have finished last without either of them but both had outstanding years.

Scooter had a hell of a season, but it's easily Votto.

There isn't a discussion. It's Votto and no one else is even worthy of a second of thought.

Votto has a chance to win the NL MVP. Scooter had a nice year, but his season wasn't even in the same universe as Votto's.

Mike Trout won the AL MVP last year on an 88 loss Angels team. There have been a few others that won league MVP while playing on a losing team....Ernie Banks, A-Rod, Andre Dawson, and Ripken that I can think of off the top of my head.

I didn't think Votto had a chance at the NL MVP but people like Buster Olney and Jeff Passan are banging his drum. Maybe he has a shot.

The analytic crowd, like Brian Kenny, have been for a while. The fact that guys like Passan and Buster are as well make me think he may actually have a puncher's chance.
