Science Friction
I really liked a lot of Don's music, was very calming...soothing soulfulness. He was 78. Don Williams, Country's 'Gentle Giant,' Dead at

B-Ball-fan
When it comes to Country music, Don Williams has always been one of my favorites. While there's only a handful of Traditional Country records in my collection, I have 3 of his; 20 Greatest Hits, True Love, and One Good Well. His smooth calm way always fit me like a glove, and it has always perplexed me why his name rarely ever came up in discussions regarding people's favorites. Perhaps he was often forgotten because he was so one of a kind with an unassuming persona. I don't know, but I just always thought that he was brilliant and deserved way more praise. I just hope he doesn't go as quietly as he conducted his career, and that loads of big name Country artists influenced by him come out of the woodwork to honor and pay tribute to him. I just have to believe that there are many of them.

Jim Schue
The guy who hosts the Roots'n'Boots show on WFPK played a number of Don Williams tunes today during his show. Williams was a great one.
