Class 1A

The ranks of the undefeated are slowly starting to shrink. Last week Paintsville and Bishop Brossart tasted defeat for the first time. This week expect even more flawless marks to fall by the wayside with a heavy slate. Beechwood narrowly survived a sloppy field and a stout Somerset defense. The weather may improve for Beechwood, but so will their opponent as 3A's top team is on deck. Hazard will take on Somerset, looking to avoid the fate that Beechwood escaped.

1. Beechwood vs. 3A #1 Corbin

2. Hazard vs. 2A #10 Somerset

3. Kentucky Country Day vs. 2A Carroll County

4. Paintsville vs. #10 Pikeville

5. Williamsburg vs. #9 Frankfort

6. Raceland vs. 4A #9 Greenup County

7. Louisville Holy Cross vs. Bethlehem

8. Russellville vs. 4A Logan County

9. Frankfort at #5 Williamsburg

10. Pikeville at #4 Paintsville

Class 2A

Another tough week full of tests for Class 2A's top five teams, and another week where all five left without a loss to their name. Both of the Class' top two ranked squads got pushed to their limits in their toughest games of the season, but a late Field Goal lifted Danville to victory and Christian Academy-Louisville's Defense refused to allow a point while their offense struggled. Those two teams are not out of the woods yet as they both face stern challenges this week. Mayfield continues to turn heads and light up scoreboards, and this week 6A McCracken County will be the next to test their mettle. In other action, it is a battle of Fayette County private schools as Lexington Christian Academy squares up Lexington Catholic.

1. Christian Academy-Louisville vs. 3A #3 Elizabethtown

2. Danville at 5A #10 Pulaski County

3. DeSales -- OPEN

4. Mayfield vs. 6A McCracken County

5. Lexington Christian Academy vs. 3A #5 Lexington Catholic

6. Glasgow at 4A Allen County- Scottsville

7. Newport Central Catholic vs. 3A #2 Belfry

8. Owensboro Catholic at South Spencer (IN)

9. Walton-Verona vs. Covington Holy Cross

10. Somerset at 1A #2 Hazard

Class 3A

Corbin is one of the hottest teams in the state after back to back head turning wins. The Redhounds have risen to the top ranking and will face another battle as they must travel to Class 1A's top team. Elizabethtown, Belfry, and Lexington Catholic each secured "wow" wins against Class 6A foes by larger margins than many expected. Each of those schools must now take on ranked foes from other classes. Perhaps the most impressive win of the week was Central taking down 5A Fern Creek. The Yellowjackets look to knock off their second ranked 6A foe, Ballard.

1. Corbin at 1A #1 Beechwood

2. Belfry at 2A #7 Newport Central Catholic

3. Elizabethtown at 2A #1 Christian Academy-Louisville

4. Central vs. 6A #10 Ballard

5. Lexington Catholic at 2A #5 Lexington Christian

6. Boyle County vs. 4A #2 Wayne County

7. Caldwell County at 1A Crittenden County

8. Western Hills vs. Bath County

9. Fleming County vs. 4A Rowan County

10. Paducah Tilghman at 5A Graves County

Class 4A

For a moment on Thursday night Class 4A seemed a bit more wide open than expected. Johnson Central was struggling against 6A Henry Clay, and for the first time in a long time the defending champion appeared vulnerable. Unfortunately the results that followed throughout the weekend may have suggested that Johnson Central was just even further ahead of the pack. Nine of the top twelve teams took losses, only Rockcastle County and Wayne County's wins over un-ranked 5A schools being the lone exceptions. Wayne County will get the honor of 4A's top game as they travel to a 3A Boyle County team itching to make up for last week's loss. Greenup County and Hopkinsville each took losses and will try and right their respective ships against ranked foes.

1. Johnson Central at South Charleston (WV)

2. Wayne County at 3A #6 Boyle County

3. Collins at 5A Oldham County

4. Rockcastle County vs. 5A Woodford County

5. Mercer County vs. 3A Garrard County

6. Shelby County at 5A North Bullitt

7. Ashland at 3A Russell

8. Franklin Simpson vs. 5A Greenwood

9. Greenup County at 1A #6 Raceland

10. Hopkinsville at 5A #3 Christian County

Class 5A

You have to go back a lot of years to find the last time Bowling Green started 1-2. The Purples were over matched against 6A St. Xavier and will try to keep it in the class in a huge showdown with #4 Owensboro. The Devils enter riding high after dismantling cross-town rival Owensboro Catholic. Covington Catholic looked good in their first week as the top team, but the level of competition increases a bit against a solid Kings (OH) squad. Fern Creek failed to show signs of life on offense and will need to bounce back, but it won't be easy against a ranked 6A Butler squad.

1. Covington Catholic at Kings (OH)

2. Bowling Green vs. #4 Owensboro

3. Christian County vs. 4A #10 Hopkinsville

4. Owensboro at #2 Bowling Green

5. Fern Creek at 6A #7 Butler

6. Southwestern vs. 6A Henry Clay

7. South Warren at 6A Central Hardin

8. South Oldham at 4A North Oldham

9. Highlands vs. 6A #9 Ryle

10. Pulaski County vs. 2A #2 Danville

Class 6A

It looked like the Shamrocks were about to be plucked. Trailing by a large deficit and struggling to stop Moeller (OH), the flagship program for the Bluegrass State was on the ropes. Instead Trinity rallied to claim their third consecutive win in interstate competition. Trinity will keep it local as they renew the rivalry with #4 Male. Moeller won't leave the picture just yet, they still have one more challenge to own up to as Scott County gets their turn fresh off a win, scratch that, a massacre of Highlands. St. Xavier planted their flag and justified their ranking by beating Bowling Green, so things should be a bit easier against another 5A foe, Fairdale.

1. Trinity at #4 Male

2. St. Xavier vs. 5A Fairdale

3. Pleasure Ridge Park vs. North Hardin

4. Male vs. #1 Trinity

5. Scott County vs. Moeller (OH)

6. Simon Kenton vs. 5A Dixie Heights

7. Butler vs. 5A #4 Fern Creek

8. Manual vs. 4A Western

9. Ryle at 5A #9 Highlands

10. Ballard at 3A #4 Central
