Should subpoena of DNC servers be a condition of continued investigation?

Recommended Posts

What?

Simple. DNC servers were hacked. Russia is asserted as being the perpetrator. Any investigation of Russian interference should start there. If the special counsel does not subpoena the these servers, he should be fired.

The special counsel is not there to prosecute, it is there to persecute!

Imagine your faith in the president's integrity is so fragile that you've resorted to ginning up fantastical reasons to end any credible investigation into his conduct.

For the good of the country, Mueller's investigation needs to be completed unimpeded. If the president, or his team, did nothing wrong re: Russia then the country needs to know that a credible investigation found nothing. If there was wrongdoing, whatever it was, then the country certainly deserves to know that as well.

Mueller has unimpeachable credentials from serving in administrations from Reagan to Bush to Obama, and Republicans and Democrats alike had nothing but praise for his selection here. So far, he's eschewed any publicity or limelight over his current position and appears to be seriously committed to his charge. The president's defenders should welcome that. Only someone with his bipartisan clout and apparent commitment to duty can credibly clear the president's name at this point.

That the president's defenders have instead taken to praying their hysterical allegations and whataboutisms will derail the inquiry is a sign they know what an investigation might uncover and still care more about keeping their man in power.

Agreed on all points, except I would change the bolded from "they know" to "they deeply fear".

Bravo Habib!!! Every single American, including Trump's defenders, should welcome an investigation into Russian meddling in our democratic process, especially one that is headed up by the unimpeachable and serious-minded Mueller. Why would anyone not welcome that? Your answer summed it up well. Hard to respect anyone who wouldn't want this investigation to continue unimpeded.

So what do all of you do when the "unimpeachable" Mueller finds no wrongdoing by the POTUS? Will you accept that or will the games still go on?

I commit to accepting the results, whatever they are.

The seriousness of what's at stake here goes well beyond the usual partisan cheerleading. There are any number of issues to criticize the president over, including his bizarre affection for Russia, but if his hands are clean of any corruption involving them then we need to have the confidence that's the case and move on.

Remind me, how many representatives of foreign governments contributed money to The Clinton Foundation for favors and access? Why is there no pursuit of the forensic trail on the DNC servers? The DNC and HRC wiped servers clean rather than offer access to investigating authorities, yet there has been no investigation or consequences to date.

1) Hillary Clinton didn't win, so what are you so worried about?

2) Have we already forgotten the nine hundred Benghazi hearings and every other hearing Clinton has gone through in her public life? Of course we'd be having hearings, investigations, and every other thing under the sun regarding potential wrongdoing.

Little doubt of that.
