While Dave Cowens was a good HS player, most who were from his generation I believe will agree he wasn't one of the greatest HS players of all time. Now if you exclude the HS part then I would have him leading this group.

Jim McDaniels was something to see and he played during the years of no dunking, I would have loved seeing him dunk on everybody and anybody in a HS game.

No but top payers in high school can mean different things to different people. It could be stat driven. Some might have Ervin Stepp on the list ahead of "better" players. Some might have Jamie Walz.
