The Draft

The draft order is set in the order of the final standings from the previous year. The team in last place will get the first pick with the league champion having the 16th pick.

The draft will be held using the MFL website Draft feature

Each round will serpentine, meaning that if you have the last pick in the first round you will have the first pick in the second round.

The Draft will start about the 10th of August and will use the MFL site drafting feature, in order to have it completed before the NFL season starts.

Each GM is allotted 24 hours to make a selection. As soon as a GM makes a selection, the next GM is considered to be on the clock. All times are Central Standard Time (CST). Should the draft be taking too long towards the start of the season, the Commissioner will determine a way to speed up the draft, either by (1) shortening the draft picks to 12 hour time limits, (2) having all owners to agree to meeting in a chat room, so we can finish the draft live, or (3) by having each owner send in a list of draft pick preferences.

If a team fails to make a selection within the allotted 24 hours, the next team will go on the clock. The team that missed their pick will be able to submit a pick of un-drafted players when they can.

Please check the BGP web site at least twice a day to keep the draft moving at nice pace. If you know that you won't be able to check the site and your selection is coming up, please forward your selection to either The Commissioner or someone in the league so they can make the selection for you.

The Draft will be conducted in 16 rounds.

In the event of Trading Draft picks 2 for 1 or 2 picks for a player, the team giving up two roster spots will also receive the 16th or last remaining draft pick from the team receiving the extra spot. Doing this insures that all teams finish the Draft with 16 players, and no team has extra/unneeded draft picks at the end of the Draft.

You are only allowed to draft two QB's, PK's or DEF's, period. The season two starting QB's rule does not apply during the draft.

Trading of draft picks is allowed for the current season only. Also you may only trade draft picks for Rounds 3 and later. No one may end Draft Round 2 with more or less than two players on Roster.

Rosters & Starters

The starting lineup will consist of: 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 2 receivers/tight-end, 1 flex (running back, receiver, or tight-end) 1 kicker and 1 defense for a total of 8 players plus the tie breaker.

If a line-up isn't submitted by the deadline for that week you will receive a an automatic loss for the week. Even if you intend to use the same line-up as the previous week, you must e-mail or PM The Commissioner. Sometimes servers will go down, so I suggest that you not wait until the last minute to submit a line-up. I will make my phone number available just in case.

You have until game time for each player to submit your lineup. Changes to a line-up can be made up the start of the last game of the week.

Naturally you can't change a player who has already played or the game has already started for that week.

If a team fails to turn in a lineup, that team will receive a loss for that week. The Commissioner will then submit that teams last submitted lineup for their opponent to play against.

If a team fails to submit a lineup three times in one season, the ownership will be replaced with someone that will be more active.

In addition to a team's starting lineup, one player will be listed as the teams tie breaker.

If the game is tied at the end of regulation play, three points will be added to the team that has the highest score by their tie breaker. If both tie breakers scored the same amount of points the game will remain a tie.

In the Playoffs all reserves are listed in the order the owner wants them to be used for breaking a tie. If the game is still tied after the first reserves, then the 2nd reserves are used and so on until the tie is broken.

Roster Limits

Since there are 16 teams in each Conference and there is only 32 NFL teams, each team will have a roster limit of two "starting" quarterbacks, kickers and defense teams. This is done so every team will be able to have a replacement for their starters at these positions on bye weeks. This limit will also be enforced during the draft. No team will be allowed to draft more than two players at each of these positions.

Scoring Method

The format that is used for scoring is listed on the Scoring Rules page: http://www57.myfantasyleague.com/2017/options?L=49831&O=09

In addition to the scoring method used by the league a change has been made in May of 2016 and will hence fore be known as the "Sumo Rule": A Touchdown scored by a player on a starting roster is a Touchdown and is scored for six points whether it be offense, defense, special teams, fumble recovery or any other fluke not covered here.

If a player starting on your roster is also playing Special Teams and makes a play resulting in a Touchdown, that will score 6 points for the player and for the DEF unit.

Trades

Trades are allowed until Thursday at 8 PM CST of week #10.

If The Commissioner feels that a trade may be lopsided, he will send the trade to the rest of the league for the league to vote on. Owners will then have 24 hours to vote and make themselves heard - majority will rule.

Before a trade will even be considered, all teams involved with the trade MUST verify the trade with The Commissioner. Once a trade is approved by The Commissioner, it will not be final until rosters are at the legal limit. i.e. drop a player or add a player to get to the 16 man roster. (These steps will be eliminated by using the MFL site for making your trade)

Trading of draft picks is allowed for the current season only. Also you may only trade draft picks for Rounds 3 and later. No one may end Draft Round 2 with more or less than two players on Roster.

No trades are permitted after the LINE-UP deadline for any particular week.

Free Agents

Free Agent requests may be submitted through the MFL site beginning at the end of the Monday night game, through Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM. If two or more owners request the same player, the player will go to the owner with the worst record. The order for Free Agents will be posted after the Monday Night Game has been played and final scores are in.

Requests will be filled one at a time. The site will start with worst record and fill his first request and then move to the next owner with the worst record and so forth until all owners have had a chance at picking up a player. The site will then start from the top again and so on. If you have more than one request, be sure that the player you want the most is at the top of your list.

Free Agent requests submitted after 7:00 PM Wednesday are first come first serve, up until the LINEUP deadline for that particular week.

Injured Reserve

Injured Reserve, will allow one player to be placed on Injured Reserve (IR) if they are hurt and are out for the year. IR does not start until after the first game of the season. If a player is placed on IR then they have to sit out the rest of the year and cannot return to the lineup until the following season.

Returning To the League the Following Year

Since the BGP forum is a large community, it order to give more people a chance to get involved, only the top 12 teams in each Conference will be returning to the league the following year. The bottom four teams from each conference will have to "sit out" at least one season to allow more people the opportunity to participate. An exception to this is the eight teams will be placed into a "Toilet Bowl" playoffs with the winner returning to the league.

The second exception to this will be a past champion. Once you have won a championship, you have the right to play in the league as long as you would like. The final exception is achieved by being in the league for ten years and getting league veteran status.
