Colonels_Wear_Blue
The conversation in the thread about Jake Ohmer's number retirement got me thinking about it...which schools have retired which jerseys and numbers for their various sports? Anecdotes are encouraged.
Colonels_Wear_Blue
I can't say for sure whether or not there are others at Cov Cath, but I know they have retired at least 2 football players' numbers, and at least 1 basketball jersey. Dan Tieman (Cov Cath '58) had his basketball jersey retired upon his retirement from teaching and coaching at the school for 46 years. Coach T played basketball at Cov Cath, Villa Madonna College, and then for one season with the Cincinnati Royals.
Colonels_Wear_Blue
Artie Steinmetz (Cov Cath '97) died in a car accident in November 1998. He was an all-state defensive tackle at Cov Cath, played his freshman year of college football at Michigan State University, and transferred to the University of Kentucky to play football there. He was a redshirt transfer at the time of his death. Cov Cath retired his jersey and #94 when he died in 1998.

Colonels_Wear_Blue
Mike Caple (Cov Cath '97) died accidentally in December 1995. Mike was a star tailback and outside linebacker for the Colonels, and played on their AAA state championship team. He was a junior at Cov Cath when he died, at which point they retired his jersey and #32.
