11th Region Rankings and Recap Week 10

Recommended Posts

Another exciting week of high quality basketball in the 11th Region. The District tournament picture continues to be clearing up and some big time out of region wins for teams throughout the week. Big games on the horizon this week for some top tier teams. Should be another great week!!

Team of the Week - Scott County

The Cardinals picked up 3 quality wins this week, including 2 over district foes on the road and another nice win over a top out of region team on a neutral court. Michael Moreno continues his stellar play and the trio of guards are doing what they do. Congrats on the great week Cardinals!!

Player of the Week - Jake Duby - Sayre

Jake had an outstanding week averaging 26 points in 3 nice wins for the Sayre Spartans. Jake has had an outstanding season and has really help to lead Sayre to the heights it has reached thus far in the season. Congrats to Jake on an outstanding week!!

Team Rankings

1. Lexington Catholic - The Knights only had one game this week and were able to get by a late flurry by Lafayette to help them keep pace with Paul Laurence Dunbar for that ever important 1 seed in the 43rd District. This week the Knights have 3 games against Madison Central, LCA, and Clay County. None bigger then the LCA game. With a win over LCA, Lexington Catholic would finish tied for the 1 seed in the 43rd with Dunbar forcing a coin flip this weekend.

2. Scott County - As mentioned above the Cardinals had a great week picking up 3 wins over Bryan Station, Henry Clay, and Southwestern. They have clinched the 1 seed in the 42nd District and look to continue their winning ways. This week the Cardinals host Cordia and Bryan Station and travel to Grant County.

3. Paul Laurence Dunbar - The Bulldogs picked up 2 wins this week over Taylor County and Tates Creek. The win over Tates Creek ensured the Bulldogs will finish no worse then tied for 1st in the 43rd District. Taveion Hollingsworth continues to put up big numbers as he tries to chase down the Fayette County scoring record. Tough week of games for PLD this week with South Laurel, at Henry Clay, and a HUGE neutral court matchup with Covington Cathoilc at Thomas More on Saturday.

4. Lexington Christian Academy - The Eagles lost a head scratcher on the road to Covington Holy Cross but bounched back with a big win at Lafayette to end the week which wrapped up the 3 seed for them in the 43rd District tournament. Two District games on the schedule this week with Tates Creek and Lexington Catholic. No bigger game during the regular season for the Eagles as big as their 2 matchups with the Knights. I expect it to be a great game.

5. Sayre - This might shock some people but there aren't much hotter teams out there right now then the Spartans. They picked up 3 wins on the road this past week over Tates Creek, Nicholas County, and a very impressive win at South Laurel. Sayre has won 7 of their last 8. This week they host Lee County, Wolfe County, and head to Somerset.

6. Madison Central - The Indians had a nice week picking up wins over Henry Clay and Harrison County. The 44th District had its draw this weekend and the Indians will play Model to begin tournament play. This week the Indians host Lexington Catholic before heading to Franklin County to end the week.

7. Lafayette - The Generals had a tough beginning to the week dropping a game to Lexington Catholic on the road but bounced back with a win over Scott on a last second shot by Evan Dreux. Up next for the Generals is a trip to Bryan Station in their only game this week.

8. Madison Southern - The Eagles continue to roll picking up 3 wins this week over Somerset, East Jessamine, and Clinton County. They drew Berea in the 44th District tournament after this past week's draw. Up next are games with Bourbon County and Western Hills.

9. Bryan Station - The Defenders had a tough start to the week dropping a home game in a big way to Scott County but bounced back nicely with a big time 30 point win over a good Bullitt East team. Up next for the Defenders are back to back city games with Lafayette and Tates Creek and then a trip to Scott County to end the week.

10. Henry Clay - Tough week for the Blue Devils as they dropped games with Madison Central and Scott County. The Blue Devils will be the 2 seed in the 42nd District tournament after this past weeks results. This week the Blue Devils host Paul Laurence Dunbar and head to Woodford County.

11. Tates Creek - The Commodores were handed 3 losses this week against Sayre, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Knox Central. Things get no easier this week as they face off with Lexington Christian and Bryan Station.

12. Franklin County - The Flyers dropped a close one to start the week at Bourbon County but bounced back with a 30 point win over Whitfield Academy to end the week. Sophomore Diablo Stewart was recognized this past week for scoring the 1,000th point f his career. Up next the Flyers visit Christian Academy of Louisville and host Madison Central.

13. Woodford County - The Yellow Jackets only played one game this past week with a tough home loss to Casey County. Up next the Yellow Jackets will head to West Jessamine and host Henry Clay to end the week.

14. Frankfort - The Panthers had a nice week picking up wins over Shelby County and Anderson County both at home. This week they have a tough matchup with Mercer County sandwiched in between trips to East Jessamine and Marion County.

15. Model - The Patriots move up a spot after a head to head victory over Western Hills this past week but then dropped a game to Lynn Camp. Up next is a trip to Danville and a home game with Robertson County.

16. Western Hills - Had to drop the Wolverines after losing to Model and Bourbon County but they did pick up a win over Russell County. This week they host Madison Southern before heading to Nicolas County and Berea.

17. Berea - The Pirates split this week losing to Nicholas County but picking up a win over Riverside Christian. Up next they travel to Lee County then host Estill County and Western Hills.
