Anyone in the know that can elaborate on why the Cooper/LC game wasn't renewed?

The only game that seems to be a possible replacement for that series is the Desales game/series (assuming they have a 2 year deal). This new series could just be the Catholic smalls supporting each other.

The Southwestern series is its second year. So that was already committed.

But the other games make a lot of sense and have some desirable features - mainly being local or close to local games. Madison Central series has been long standing. Not sure when or it was up but it does to move the opener when it has been more mid-season in the past.

CovCath is a traditional rival game and a good feature game to the Bluegrass Bowl. The BGB is always a unique since it has to be done without a return game.

LCA and Lafayette series are restarts of previous series. Henry Clay series has been in the wings for a while so its good to see it there finally. The advantage of these three new/resurrected series is that they are local and good competition. LexCath usually only plays 'up' in non-district games but LCA and Desales are good 2A competition.

Hated that they did not want to renew the game with Johnson Central. I'm sure that it probably had more to do with travel than anything else. Everyone affiliated with the program that we were able to speak to was extremely polite. Best of luck to the Knights in 2017.

This will be the first ever meeting.

Good schedule. Looking forward to seeing how the Knights fare next year.
