Inside the 16th Region - Week 6

Recommended Posts

1.Elliott County (9-1):

Despite playing just 10 games thus far, the Lions are one of, if not the best team in the entire 16th region. The Lions only loss on the season was to Ravenwood TN 64-59 in the King of the Smokies. Can Elliott County keep up the winning ways this week?

2.Rowan County (10-4):

The Vikings picked up a big 66-60 win over #3 Boyd County this past week. Rowan County has another big game this week when they face #1 Elliott County in Sandy Hook this coming Thursday. This game will be one of the better ones this season. Can the Vikings pull out the win or will the Lions protect their den?

3.Boyd County (10-4):

After suffering a hearbreaking 58-54 loss @ Ashland at the end of December in the AIT, the Lions had a rematch with the same team, this time it would be @ Boyd County. A game that Boyd wouldn’t have much trouble with as they rolled past the Tomcats 71-47. The Lions have lost 2 of their last 3 games but have won 4 of their last 8.

4.Greenup County (11-3):

The Musketeers picked up another win this past week, defeating Louisville Eastern in the Marvin Meredith Classic @ Russell. The Musketeers won 65-61 and pushed their win streak to 6 straight games. Can the Musketeers keep up the winning ways or will someone sneak in and knock them off their throne?

5.West Carter (10-4):

Since starting the season 5-0, the Comets have gone 5-4. If pattern continues, the Comets should win their next game before dropping 2 straight. Can West Carter pull off a major upset and beat #4 Greenup County this week or will the Musketeers pull out the W?

6.East Carter (7-8):

East Carter got some revenge on Russell, defeating the Red Devils 54-42 after an earlier season defeat at the hands of Red Devils 56-53. After their win over Russell, the Raiders would turn their attention to crosstown rival, West Carter, looking to avenge an earlier defeat but it wouldn’t happen on this night as the West Carter Comets would pick up the win 65-60.

7.Russell (8-9):

Russell continues to struggle, although they are 8-9, they have lost 4 of their last 6 games. Not the way you wanna be going this time in the season. Can the Devils get things turned around or will the skid continue?

8.Ashland (3-11):

The woes continue for Ashland as their losing streak has now reached 3 straight games, not to mention but the Tomcats have lost 8 of their last 10 games. When will the Tomcats stop the bleeding? This Week? Will it continue?

9.Fleming County (4-10):

The Panthers continue to struggle, although they are 4-10, they have split games with #10 Bath County losing 81-62 (@ East Carter) but winning 64-61 @ Bath County.

10.Bath County (7-9):

The Wildcats have now lost 6 of their last 9 games. 2 of their losses, could have and probably should have been wins. Can the Wildcats get things turned around or will they continue to slide?

11.Morgan County (6-10):

Morgan County continues to improve weekly after a horrible start to the season.

12.Lewis County (3-11):

The Lions picked up a 64-59 win this past week over Lawrence County, the same team that defeated them pretty handily earlier in the season.

13.Fairview (3-9):

11 of the 12 games the Eagles have played so far this season have been within the region, putting their region record 3-8 with the lone wins coming over Menifee County, Raceland and Rose Hill.

14.Menifee County (3-10):

Menifee County has lost 9 of their last 10 games….Ouch…

15.Raceland (3-11):

The Rams defeated Rose Hill last week 76-50 but still continue to struggle putting W’s in the win column.

16.Rose Hill Christian (9-10):

The Royals have now lost 4 straight after winning 6 straight. Will the Royals get things turned around or will they continue to slide?
