1.Morgan County (19-6):

The Cougars had their 9 game win streak snapped when they fell to Owen County in the second round of the KHSAA State “A” Classic Tournament in Frankfort. Since the loss, the Cougars have went 3-2 with the other loss coming to 15th region’s, Magoffin County. Jordan Perry continues to led the way for Morgan County, averaging right at 28 points a game.

 

The Cougars won’t have an easy week at all, probably the most difficult week they’ve had all season as they prepare to face West Carter on the road (Feb. 8), host Lawrence County (Feb. 10) and travel to Rowan County on Saturday.

 

 

2.Boyd County (15-10):

12 of the Lions 15 wins have came against region opponents, in fact the Lions are 12-2 against the rest of the region. The Lions have been playing fantastic ball lately, winning 13 out of their last 15 games and currently on a 5 game win streak.

 

Boyd County will travel to Rose Hill Christian on Tuesday, Elliott County on Thursday and host Greenup County on Friday.

 

 

3.West Carter (15-7):

The Comets have been playing good ball all season long including in all of their losses. West Carter continues to get production out of Hayden Roe (18 PPG), Ben Jordan and Dalton Brown at about 14 PPG. The one thing that holds up the Comets is that they haven’t been able to knock off #1 Morgan County, will they be able to do so tomorrow night when they host the Cougars?

 

After Morgan County tomorrow night, the Comets will travel to Russell on Tuesday, host Lewis County and Bath County on Friday and Saturday.

 

4.Ashland (14-5):

The Tomcats have been playing good ball as of late, winning 8 of their last 10 games. One of those 8 victories came against region foe, Elliott County. Christian Villers continues to led the way for the Tomcats, averaging 22 PPG.

 

Tomcats has 4 big games this week. They will kick off the week on Monday traveling to Rose Hill Christian, return home Tuesday to host Rowan County, travel to Johnson Central on Thursday and travel to Spring Valley WV on Saturday.

 

 

5.Rowan County (13-9):

The Vikings had a good start to the new year, winning their first 6 games before taking their first L in the new year, since then they have took a wrong turn, losing 4 of their last 6 games. The Vikings will look to get things turned back around and back on track this week when they play @ Menifee (Mon), @ Ashland (Tue), hosting East Carter (Thurs) and Morgan County (Sat).

 

 

6.Elliott County (13-7):

Lions started the season off, no better way than winning 4 of their first 5 games on their way to a 10 game win streak before suffering their second loss on the season, since then the Lions have won just 2 games and have lost 6. 2 of those 6 losses came to region opponents West Carter and Ashland, both were 1 point losses and both were away.

 

Elliott County will host Boyd County on Thursday and travel to Raceland on Friday.

 

 

7.Greenup County (15-9):

The Musketeers have won 2 straight and 5 of their last 7 games. Greenup County took a 77-62 beating from #2 Boyd County last week, Greenup County countered that loss with 2 wins over Sheldon Clark and Raceland.

 

Greenup County travels to Betsy Layne and Boyd County on Wednesday and Friday and host Magoffin County on Saturday.

 

 

8.Lewis County (14-9):

The Lions are rolling at the right time, rolling to a 9-1 start since the new year rang in. The Lions have only 1 loss at home this season, in fact, they are 7-1 at home this season with the lone loss coming to guess who? #2 powerhouse, Boyd County.

 

Lewis County travels to Fleming County and West Carter on Tuesday and Friday.

 

 

9.Raceland (12-13):

The Rams struggled all of January, in fact, the Rams only won 3 games during the month, 2 of those wins came against #10 Fairview. The Rams need to win 1 more game in February to match their win total in January, Rams are currently 2-1 as we begin February.

 

Rams will host East Carter and Elliott County on Tuesday and Friday.

 

 

10.Fairview (9-15):

Fairview is struggling and has been struggling all season. The Eagles are just 2-11 since December 30th when they fell to Allen Central. Fairview picked up those two wins at the end of January when they defeated St. Joseph Central and Rose Hill. Fairview will host East Carter on Friday.

 

 

11.East Carter (7-14):

Since defeating Bath County 54-40 back on January 28th, the Raiders have lost 4 straight.

 

 

12.Russell (5-20):

Red Devils have lost 7 straight but need 1 more win to match their win total from last season.

 

 

13.Bath County (7-20):

The Wildcats continue to struggle, in fact, they are 1-4 in their last 5 games and are currently on a 2 game losing streak.

 

 

14.Fleming County (2-21):

The Panthers only wins have came against region opponents; Bath County and Menifee County.

 

 

15.Menifee County (1-20):

Menifee County’s only win came against #16 Rose Hill Christian

 

 

16. Rose Hill Christian (8-14):

Your probably thinking, Rose Hill has won 8 games, why aren’t they ranked higher? They’re 0-7 against region opponents…0-4 vs. district
