Region 1 Rankings (1/18/16 Week 7)

Recommended Posts

Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. Hickman County was the biggest mover this week moving up 3 spots. Here are the rankings as of 1/18/16.

1. Paducah Tilghman (13-4)

The Blue Tornadoes had no problems at all with Marshall County or McCracken County. They are still on the outside looking in at the top 20 in the BGP although they have broke through the top 20 in other polls in the state. They play in the Superman Classic this week which is made up of mostly Illinois teams.

2. Murray (14-4)

Murray won a blowout to Fulton City and a closer than expected game against Calloway. Their play has improved as of late, but still not as consistent as coach Flener would like. They have a chance to go very far in the All “A” Classic if they play to their potential.

3. Graves (12-6)

Strong wins over Marshall County and Webster County. Had a big game against an up and down Hopkinsville but it was cancelled and yet to be postponed. They have a tough game at Bullitt East weather permitting on Saturday.

4. McCracken County (13-4)

The Mustangs couldn’t stop Paducah Tilghman as they lost by 25 points to the region’s top team. They have a big game at Marshall County this Friday. This game went into OT the last time they played at McCracken.

5. Marshall County (11-7)

Lost a close game to Graves County and roughed up a Crittenden County team that has only won 1 game this year. They play their rematch against McCracken Co this Friday and a Florida team on Saturday.

6. Carlisle (12 -4)

They are going to have a rematch against Hickman County this week in the All “A” Classic. They beat Hickman by only 2 points on their own floor and will have to play much better than that if they want to advance in the tournament.

7. Hickman County (6-10)

Won their 2 games as expected this week again Dawson Springs and Fulton City. Will play Carlisle County in the All “A” Classic.

8. Ballard Memorial (5-11)

Ballard Memorial lost to Mayfield at home after having a promising win against St Mary. Not sure what to make of this team. They play St. Mary this week.

9. Calloway County (5-12)

Played a great game against Murray and had the opportunity to pull a big upset, but it just slipped away. Same story with Trigg County as they lost by 1. They were defeated soundly by a Tennessee team. They will play Lexington, TN and then a matchup with Graves.

10. Fulton County (5-10)

Lost big to McCracken and Carlisle, but won their game against CCA. Will play Mayfield in the All A Classic and then again at the beginning of next week.

11. Mayfield (5-10)

Pulled out a nice win against Ballard Memorial and lost at Webster County. Will play Fulton Co in the All A Classic and then again next week.

12. Fulton City (10-11)

Hello Bulldogs! Big win against St. Mary and defeated Christian Fellowship twice. They also fell to Murray and Hickman Co.

13. St. Marys (8-11)

Took a terrible loss to Fulton City before defeating Community Christian. Play Ballard Memorial in the All A Classic this week.

14. Christian Fellowship (4-14)

Lost to Fulton City twice and to rival Community Christian.

15. Community Christian (1-15)

Won their first game of the season against Christian Fellowship, somewhat of a surprise, but great job.

Players of the Week

Chris Vogt, Graves Co. – had 12 points and 17 boards in game against Webster County.

Honestly the rankings from Hickman County to St. Mary's can be put in almost any order. But I do think Hickman is playing best. Mayfield has a great win against UHA, then 2 losses to St. Mary. St. Mary beat Hickman and Mayfield but lost to Fulton City, Ballard, and Calloway. Calloway beat both St. Mary and Mayfield, but lost to Ballard Memorial. Ballard has beat them all except Mayfield. So its very hard to rank them.
