Clyde
Two years in a row the IHSAA has ended seasons for ugly fights. Pike, Ben Davis girls basketball seasons, including tournament, canceled
Wireman
Ending seasons is too stiff of a penalty for fighting.
TexasRanger
I'm ok with it, you simply can't have multiple player fights along with spectators fighting on the court. I agree it's harsh, but you have to draw a line in the sand before someone gets seriously hurt or worse.
TheDeuce
I'm not sure the penalty is too stiff... We're talking bench and stand clearing brawls according to the article. Not just two girls who get into it. You can't condone that type of atmosphere.

Wireman
I think probation would be a better penalty for the first offense but that's just me.
TexasRanger
Probation for a player or 2 I could see. But reading the article makes it sound much more than a punch or slap. These incidents always reminds me of the Pacer incident. Left unchecked hs ball could get really bad. You mix a few drinks with 6 or 7 future pro's parents and you got yourself a brawl. Clyde
Article on a girl who already has a scholarship. Pike senior Robinson not involved in fight, but season over

Wireman
That wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. They should suspend the stomper in red, give the teams probation and not ruin the entire season for the kids who weren't involved. Dumb decision, IMO. swamprat
Ending seasons is too stiff of a penalty for fighting. Especially when it seems the penalty doesn't scare anybody enough to prevent it from happening again.
Clyde
I will be curious to see if either/both schools take legal action like the two boys' teams did last year.
TexasRanger
I'm going to guess the pressure applied to these schools via parents and alumni will be overwhelming. Thus they will both take legal action.

TexasRanger
^^^^^^ Just like the middle school brawl last week, I'd be willing to bet you got parents their who genuinely think coach Cal is coming to recruit their kid. There's no gym in America were you don't have future nba'ers, just ask mom. Edited January 19, 2016 by TexasRanger add word
