The Commodores had the week off last week. Perry Central will travel to Letcher Central for a big show down with the Cougars on Thursday and return home Friday to host district rival, Leslie County.

2.Cordia (10-6):

After having their record ran to .500 at 6-6 the Cordia Lions put up a 4 game win streak (current win streak) to push their record to 10-6. Those 4 games just happened to have came when Cordia won the 14th Region All “A” Classic.

3.Letcher County Central (11-4):

The Cougars only game last week came against district foe and defending region champion, Knott Central, a team that the Cougars hadn’t beaten since January 19, 2011, on January 12, 2016 that would change as the Cougars would storm past the Patriots 58-46 to remain unbeaten in region play but more importantly, remaining unbeaten in district play. Letcher Central has 4 big games this week. They will kick off the week at home tomorrow (Monday 1/18) hosting district foe June Buchanan (to see who remains unbeaten in district play), host Buckhorn on Tuesday, host Perry Central on Thursday and make the long 3 hour trip to Irvine on Saturday to battle the Engineers of Estill County.

4.June Buchanan (14-5):

Since their 50-42 loss at Hazard, the Crusaders have put together a 3-1 record while participating in the 14th Region All “A” Classic. The Crusaders would win their first 3 games in the 14th Region All “A” classic by double figures over Breathitt County, Jackson City and Leslie County. The Crusaders would find themselves playing in the championship game against district foe, Cordia, in what would be a knockdown dragout contest, the Cordia Lions would squeak past the Crusaders 50-48. JBS will travel to Letcher Central tomorrow to face district foe, Letcher Central, Crusaders would then return home on Tuesday hosting a team that defeated them earlier in the season, Hazard. JBS will then travel to Lexington Catholic on Friday and Louisville Eastern on Saturday.

5.Hazard (11-3):

The Bulldogs seen their 8 game win streak come to an end Tuesday when they fell to Cordia 46-39 in the 14th Region All “A” Classic. Hazard will travel to June Buchanan on Tuesday, host Powell County on Saturday. Hazard did pick up a transfer from OBI this past week, who should be eligible soon. Dejour Fraizer comes to the Bulldogs from OBI. While at OBI, Frazier averaged right at 23 points a game. That’s a big boost for Coach Holland and the Bulldogs and will put them right in contention for a region crown.

6.Breathitt County (10-7):

The Bobcats are 1-3 in their last 4 games and are on a 2 game skid streak. Bobcats would fall to a team they had demolished earlier in the season, Leslie County 72-69 and then would fall to Cordia by double digits in the opening round of the 14th Region All “A” Classic. Bobcats will host Owsley County on Monday, travel to Lee County on Tuesday and Jackson City on Friday.
