article 2015-16 14th Region Rankings Week 4 (Christmas Edition)

1.Perry County Central (8-1):

The Commodores continued their hot winning streak, defeating Jackson City by 30, 84-54 then going to Bowling Green and winning the Warren East Holiday Classic beating Monroe County 73-61, Caverna 73-58 and the host school, Warren East in a barn burner 67-66. The Commodores will head to Lexington Catholic this weekend, leading up into early next week to participate in the Traditional Bank Classic. They will await the winner of Paul Laurence Dunbar and Fayette County Georgia.

2.Cordia (3-4):

Don’t let the 3-4 record fool you, Cordia is a solid team but they’ve been playing past several games without their head coach, Roderick Rhodes who was out due to him and his wife having a new born baby. The Lions would go 2-2 last week/this with wins over Southwestern and West Carter but falling to Madison Southern and South Laurel. Cordia will follow Perry Central down to the Traditional Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic this weekend, they will open up with Frankfort.

3.Letcher County Central (8-1):

The Cougars continued to roll over their opponents last week, defeating their three opponents by a total of 105 points, during that stretch, the Cougars averaged right at 80 points a game while only allowing 46. Letcher Central will head across the state line as they head to the Prior Center in VA to participate in the Coalfield clash next week. They will open up with Mountain Mission School on Monday at 4 PM.

4.Hazard (6-2):

The Bulldogs went 3-1 last week/this week with wins over region teams, Buckhorn 51-50, Owsley County 67-24 and Breathitt County 67-49. Breathitt County is headed to Pikeville this weekend/next week to participate in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament.

5.Breathitt County (6-4):

Despite being 6-4, the Bobcats do own a win over the defending region champs, Knott County Central. Justin Baker and Ethan Little continue to put up points for the Bobcats with both averaging 15 points a game.

6.Knott County Central (6-3):

The defending region champs seem to be struggling against region competition as they currently stand at 3-3 against region opponents with wins over June Buchanan, Hazard and Jenkins with losses to June Buchanan, Breathitt County and Leslie County. The Patriots will be the 3^rd team from region 14 to travel to Lexington catholic this weekend to participate in the Traditional Bank Classic. They join district foe Cordia and Perry Central and will open up with Danville.

7.June Buchanan (6-3):

The Crusaders got some revenge on Knott Central after an earlier 69-62 defeat, the Crusaders would even up the score by defeating the Patriots 44-41 on Tuesday. The win improved the Crusaders record to 4-1 during the last week. June Buchanan will head to Charlotte North Carolina next week to participate in the Hoodies Classic where they will face, Charlotte Christian School NC, Butler NC and South Lake Christian NC. Depending on how well JBS does, they could be playing a 4^th game.

8.Wolfe County (8-2):

The Wolves started the season off hot, winning 8 straight games to begin the season but have since dropped their previous two games, Breathitt county 97-76 and Paris 84-53. The Wolves will head to Bell County to participate in the Pine Mountain Classic at Pineville High School. They will face Pineville, Harlan and Lynn Camp.

9.Buckhorn (4-5):

Buckhorn is struggling this so far this season, win lose, win lose, win lose lose, win, lose, However, two of their losses have came to two of the top 6 region teams in Perry Central and Hazard, both combine 8 points. The Wildcats will also make their way to Lexington Catholic on Saturday to participate in the Traditional Bank Classic.

10.Leslie County (4-3):

The Eagles started the season 2-0 then lost 3 straight but have since won back to back games to push their record to 4-3. The Eagles will now head to Greenup County to participate in the Stultz Pharmacy Classic where they will meet Lewis county in the opening round game.

11.Estill County (2-8):

The Engineers finally got on the win side of the column this past week as they defeated Washington County 69-64 and Marion county 64-61 in the Garrard County Holiday Classic to finish 5^th place overall. The Engineers were led by sophomore guard Caleb Bonny who dropped 36 against Union County, 36 against Washington County and 27 against Marion County, that’s an average of 33 points a game during those 3 games. Estill County will travel 30 minutes down the road to Stanton to participate in the Red River Classic at Powell county High School. They will meet Clinton County, Tates Creek and Model.

12.Powell County (3-5):

The Pirates continue to struggle, going 1-3 in their 4 games last week with their lone win coming against Paintsville in the KY Bank Challenge against Paintsville. Powell County fell to East Jessamine 48-33, Garrard County and Madison Southern. The Pirates will be at home next week hosting the Red River Classic where they will meet, Menifee County, Model and Jackson City.

13.Owsley County (3-8):

The Owls finally got some wins put up as they picked up wins over Harlan, Jenkins and Riverside Christian. The Owls aren’t schedule to play again until next Saturday when they meet Estill County.

14.Jackson City (1-7):

Since defeating Allen Central to pick up their first win on the season earlier in the year, the Tigers have lost 3 straight. Russell County, Clinton County and Powell County all await the Tigers next week in Powell County.

15.Lee County (1-6):

The Bobcats are struggling right now, losing 5 straight and it won’t get any easier next week when they head to the Red River Classic at Powell County, where they will meet Model (a team that defeated them earlier in the season by 40), Menifee County and Clinton County.

16.Jenkins (1-8):

After starting the season 0-8 the Cavaliers finally got their first win defeating Riverside Christian 70-47.

17.Riverside Christian (0-10):

The Rams are still looking to get their first win on the season, but taking a pounding won’t get it done.
