PCRO's 10th Region Top 25 Players of the Last 25 Years

Recommended Posts

After nearly 2 months of emails/phone calls/texts/research, we are finally ready to reveal our Top 25 players in the 10th Region over the last 25 years. I want to thank our "selection committee" for their cooperation in this. I have worn out communication with them throughout this process. I spoke with media members and people who have watched extensive amounts of basketball over this time period. The process was simple: rank 1-25 the best players in the region from the 1989-90 season through last season. Then I assigned 25 points for a 1st place vote, 24 for 2nd and so on. The number after the bio is the amount of points they received. All 1st place votes would be a score of 325.

Facts and figures (part 2)

66 total players voted for

Every school that was in the 10th during the time frame except for Bath Co, MMI, and Calvary had at least player voted for.

Mason Co leads with 12 players receiving votes.

Paris, GRC, Pendleton Co, and Brossart all had 5 players receive votes.

3 current players (Crawford, Wilson, Ohmer) all received votes.

Thanks for posting!

I think some players from the smaller schools get the benefit of better stats and an opportunity to play early, while those from bigger schools get a little bit overlooked.

I think Russ Middleton-Mason Co, Wes Burtner-GRC and Bryan Wallace-Montgomery Co should all probably be on the list, while I'm not sold on Kirk, Monroe and Seiter being included.

Also, I feel like Bourbon Co is being very underrated. I think all 3 of their players listed should be top 15. LeMaster seems especially underrated.

I believe the consensus 1st team all-state players from the 10th region during this time period were:

1. Lofton

2. Miller

3. Harrison

5. Knowles

6. Prewitt

20. LeMaster

Kellen Smith from Scott should be on this list.

10th Region has always been very small school centric. There are a lot of players who put up big numbers at these small schools while some players who played at Scott and Campbell County don't get those opportunities against that small school schedule.

Scott is a relative newcomer to the 10th as well.

Won't make the argument that Kellen should be in the top 20 but he should be in that 20-25 area based on his resume at the high school level and will follow up with a solid career at the D2 level in college.
