Fourth Region Rankings

1) Bowling Green (2-0) - 12/3 76-45 W #12 Allen County-Scottsville, 12/4 62-50 W Graves County (at Marshall County)

This Week: 12/8 at Elizabethtown, 12/11 vs. Henderson County, 12/12 at Hopkinsville

 

Bowling Green started their two-time title defense and state title chase in dominating fashion, pummelling region foe Allen County-Scottsville before taking over against Graves County in the fourth quarter en route to a 12 point win. The Purples still are waiting on a couple of players from their state title football team.

 

2) Barren County (2-0) - 12/1 62-50 W Green County, 12/4 72-52 W #4 South Warren

This Week: 12/8 at #13 Allen County-Scottsville, 12/11 vs. #9 Monroe County

 

Barren County helped justify their ranking with a 20 point victory over #4 South Warren, using an 8-0 run to start the third quarter to gain separation from the Spartans. Gavin Driver had a game-high 29 points, a dominating effort from the big man.

 

3) Russell County (1-0) - 12/4 62-47 W Marion County

This Week: 12/8 at #10 Greenwood, 12/11 vs. #14 Glasgow

 

The Lakers used a 22-5 third quarter to put off a game effort from Marion County in their season opener. Kel Stotts had 11 in the third quarter as part of a 27 point game, and Russell County shot 52% from the floor.

 

4) Warren Central (2-1) - 12/1 81-86 L at Bullitt East, 12/4 60-59 W at Henderson County, 12/5 67-51 W Central Hardin (at LaRue County)

This Week: 12/8 vs. Owensboro, 12/11 vs. Christian County (at Hopkinsville)

 

The Dragons had a roller coaster time, nearly knocking off Bullitt East, a top 5 team in the state, before opening a 17 point lead over Henderson County, only to have to win by the skin of their teeth at the end. Senior Darrell Bowman averaged 18.5 PPG in the first two contests.

 

5) Franklin-Simpson (3-0) - 12/1 57-44 W #8 Monroe County, 12/3 65-52 W #10 Greenwood, 12/4 62-50 W at #9 Clinton County

The Wildcats started strong behind Tavin Lovan's 21 PPG, scooping up three wins against the 8-10 teams in our poll. They get a chance to continue their momentum in a top matchup with South Warren, before opening district play on Friday.

 

6) South Warren (2-1) - 11/30 75-66 W Owensboro, 12/1 54-45 W #12 Allen County-Scottsville, 12/4 52-72 L at #2 Barren County

The Spartans opened their season with a win over the defending state champion, but the week ended on a sour note with a thudding loss at Barren County. They have a big matchup at Franklin before opening district play with Warren East.

 

7) Russellville (0-0) - None

This Week: 12/8 at #8 Warren East, 12/11 at #15 Todd County Central

 

The Panthers took an early bye week, and will try to fend off fast rising Warren East on Tuesday. They open district play with the Rebels on Friday.

 

8) Warren East (3-0) - 11/30 76-72 W #13 Logan County, 12/1 75-44 W #16 Metcalfe County, 12/5 66-52 W #9 Clinton County

The Raiders are our moving team of the week, getting out to a 3-0 start for the third time in four years. Kaleb Britt has averaged 27 PPG and led East to their first win over Clinton County in 42 years.

 

9) Monroe County (1-2) - 12/1 44-57 L at #6 Franklin-Simpson, 12/3 47-38 W #16 Metcalfe County, 12/5 61-63 L John Hardin (at Campbellsville)

Life without Dillon Geralds has begun for the Falcons, who dropped two of their first three games to open the season. They didn't lose two games until December 31st last year, and didn't lose a region game until the region tournament! They'll open district play on the road against the tough Trojans on Friday.

 

10) Greenwood (1-2) - 12/1 62-81 L Hopkinsville, 12/3 52-65 L at #6 Franklin-Simpson, 12/4 75-61 W at #14 Glasgow

This Week: 12/8 vs. #3 Russell County, 12/11 vs. Edmonson County, 12/12 at #11 Clinton County

 

The Gators stand pat as their results went about as you'd think. Hopkinsville is a top team statewide, and they had a double digit loss and double digit victory against teams ranked four spots ahead and behind them respectively. Dawson Crump has driven the offense with 21.3 PPG.

 

11) Clinton County (0-3) - 12/1 66-80 L at Casey County, 12/4 50-62 L #6 Franklin-Simpson, 12/5 52-66 L at #11 Warren East

The Bulldogs tumble to an 0-3 start as, like Monroe County, they learn how to function without their best player from a year ago, that being Keifer Dalton.

 

12) Logan County (1-2) - 11/30 72-76 L #11 Warren East, 12/4 49-32 W at #15 Todd County Central, 12/5 56-67 L Muhlenberg County

This Week: 12/11 at #5 Franklin-Simpson

 

The Cougars got district play off on the right foot with a 49-32 win over Todd County Central, and narrowly fell to Warren East. Big game against Franklin-Simpson this week as they'll hope to steal their way to 2-0 in-district.

 

13) Allen County-Scottsville (0-2) - 12/1 45-54 L #4 South Warren, 12/3 45-76 L at #1 Bowling Green

This Week: 12/8 vs. #2 Barren County, 12/11 vs. #17 Cumberland County, 12/12 at #8 Warren East

 

The Isable era kicked off with two losses, albeit to top teams. This week won't be much easier, but does feature a lay up against Cumberland County.

 

14) Glasgow (1-1) - 11/30 96-88 W Marion County, 12/4 61-75 L #10 Greenwood

This Week: 12/8 at Somerset, 12/11 at #3 Russell County, 12/12 vs. Edmonson County

 

The Scotties topped last season's high mark of 67 points and posted their highest score since 2012 against Marion County, before falling to Greenwood on Friday.

 

 

15) Todd County Central (0-2) - 12/1 46-50 L at East Robertson (TN), 12/4 32-49 L #13 Logan County

This Week: 12/8 vs. Butler County, 12/11 vs. #7 Russellville, 12/12 vs. Webster County (at Madisonville)

 

The Rebels open 13th District play at 0-1, and will hope to avoid 0-2 when they host Russellville this week.

 

16) Metcalfe County (0-2) - 12/1 44-75 L #11 Warren East, 12/3 38-47 L at #8 Monroe County

This Week: 12/8 at #17 Cumberland County, 12/11 vs. #11 Clinton County, 12/12 at Green County

 

This season begins much like the last few, but an encouraging close loss to #8 Monroe County for the Hornets. Cumberland County is annually one of their best shots at a win, and that comes Tuesday.

 

17) Cumberland County (0-3) - 12/1 32-56 L at Adair County, 12/4 43-53 L at Campbellsville, 12/5 61-75 L Edmonson County

This Week: 12/8 vs. #16 Metcalfe County, 12/11 at #13 Allen County-Scottsville

 

The losing streak has reached 36 in a row for the Panthers. Possibly their best chance at breaking that comes on Tuesday when they host Metcalfe County, the last team they defeated, back on January 28th, 2014.
