Class 2A Notebook: Three Games To Watch Round 1

1. Prestonsburg @ LCA- Two programs with a solid history that entered the year with high expectations only to see struggles. LCA enters with one of he most explosive Offenses in 2A led by Dillon Wheatley, PBurg has found their footing on Defense though anchored by Austin Peay commit LB Dalton Frasure.

If Pburg can pull the upset it will potentially set up a rematch with Shelby Valley. The Blackcats fought hard but came up about 20 yards short of the upset in their first meeting with the Wildcats.

2. Covington Holy Cross @ Owen County- Holy Cross is the only 3 Seed in 2A who has a legit chance of reaching the State Semi's. The Indians had both Lloyd Memorial and NewCath on the ropes in the regular season but could not finish the drill losing by 7 each game. Owen County is a vulnerable 2 Seed from District 5.

As a prime example, Holy Cross took down Walton-Verona earlier this year 28-14, the Bearcats won District 5 outright. If CHC can swing the mild upset it will set up a re-match with NewCath. Though still a distinct longshot, don't be the least bit surprised to see the Indians playing on Black Friday.

3. Ballard Memorial @ Butler County- If for no other reason so you can see the Rex Henderson show in full effect! Henderson has been mind numbingly good this year and has became the Tim Tebow of Class 2A Football. The Junior QB/DB has amassed 3225 total yards and 44 TD's on Offense. He has also added 5 INT's on Defense and another TD for good measure.

With a 2nd Round matchup with powerhouse Mayfield looming this will be your last chance this season to see him playing comparable competition. Ballard Memorial allowed 49 or more points against both Murray and Mayfield so don't be surprised to see Henderson put on some early November Fireworks.
