In Class 1A, the final rankings have Beechwood at #1, a surprise to no one. The Red Tigers have been at the top all season and are expected to take their game to Bowling Green. They are followed by Paintsville at #2 and Pikeville #3. The Blue Tigers won their first matchup with Pikeville in a close game and it looks as if the two may match up a second time in the playoffs. Russellville ends at #4 with Paris at #5. Fairview finishes at #6 and the top 10 are rounded out by Raceland at #7, Hazard at #8, Bishop Brossart at #9 and Holy Cross – Louisville at #10. Raceland will meet up with Bishop Brossart, the only two Top 10 teams meeting in week one of the playoffs. Can the Supper District make it a clean sweep in Round one?

Mayfield wears the crown of #1 in Class 2A to finish the season, and this after moving up just this year. The Class may have changed, but the Cardinals are doing what they do best - winning. Christian Academy – Louisville has proven themselves the #2 this season, after defeating a very strong #3 DeSales along the way. #4 Owensboro Catholic has continued to impress from the Western side of the state. Danville, a perennial top 10 team, finishes at #5. Your top ten are rounded out by Murray at #6, Newport Central Catholic at #7, Lloyd Memorial at #8, Shelby Valley at #9 and Monroe County at #10. It may appear to be a two team race, but can any of the other Top 10 surprise someone?

3A Central finishes at #1 after playing one of the toughest schedules in the state, knocking off 6A teams, #5 St. Xavier and good Pleasure Ridge Park team. Belfry, always at the top of the class are #2, only losing one game this season. It shouldn't surprise anyone to see Central and Belfry at the top to start the playoffs. #3 Lexington Catholic is also a familiar name in the rankings, finishing 7-3, but playing strong heading into the playoffs after beating #1 Boyle County, at the time, and surprising the state. #4 Boyle County lost only one game this season-to Lexington Catholic. Caldwell County finishes at #5. The remainder of the top 10 are #6 Elizabethtown, #7 Paducah Tilghman, #8 Lawrence County, #9 Corbin and #10 Bell County.

Class 4A has been the most contested amongst our rankings staff all year. And, finally, South Warren has done enough to earn the #1 spot, if only for the last ranking of the year. Johnson Central slips to #2 this week despite winning at #3 Ashland 8-7 but after dropping a game to Belfry where they rested some starters. Shelby County finishes at #4, while Spencer County finishes #5. Hopkinsville at #6, Scott at #7, John Hardin at #8, Wayne County at #9, and Franklin County at #10 round out the top 10 for the season.

Bowling Green wins the battle for #1 to end the season, leaving Pulaski County at #2. Can the Purples and the Maroons meet up and decide once and for all who the top team in Class 5A is? Fern Creek, in their first year in 5A finishes at #3 after defeated several Louisville 6A teams. Owensboro is #4, followed by Christian County at #5. Highlands, competing in 5A again, overcomes a rocky start and ends the season ranked #6. Are the Bluebirds hitting their stride at the right time of year? Finishing out the top 10, South Oldham is #7, Southwestern #8, Covington Catholic #9 and Montgomery County #10

In what should come as no surprise, Male ends the season at #1 in Class 6A and remains undefeated going into the playoffs. #2 Trinity is undefeated, with the exception of 1 loss…to #1 Male. Trinity will have to overcome a lopsided score from the regular season to beat the Bulldogs. Scott County also posted one loss on the season, to Cincinnati Elder and finishes at #3 in our rankings. Simon Kenton is undefeated and Northern Kentucky is pinning its hopes on the Pioneers heading into the playoffs. St. Xavier has had a rocky year, but finishes at #5 in our rankings. Manual has lost only twice this season, to St. Xavier and to Male. The Crimsons finish the year at #6. Rounding out the top 10 are Cooper at #7, Ryle at #8, Lafayette at #9 and McCracken County at #10.
