The Rankings

 

10) Madison Southern (5A, 4-5)

The Eagles were 1 – 4 after their first five game. But when district play started they got it going when it counted and won their first ever district championship.

9) Madison Central (6A, 6-4)

The Indians have been up and down at times this year. Their biggest swing being a 41-0 lost to Lexington Catholic followed by a 55 – 0 win over Woodford County - a 96 point swing. One of the state’s best kickers plays for the Indians – Landon White. White has at least 8 FGs this season with two of them coming from the impressive lengths of 45 and 42 yards.

8) Paris (1A, 10 – 0)

The Greyhounds finish the season with a spotless 10 – 0 record. were off this week. Seniors James Clark (1300+) and Koebe Garrard (700+) have combined for over 2,000 yards in rushing. They also have over 31 rushing TDs.

7) Bryan Station (6A / 6 – 4)

Defenders lost some very stong talent lfrom last years team and did not look to be strong team before the season started. Senior Devon Key stepped up to provide leadership on both sides of the ball and the Defenders showed they are program on the rise overall. Key has been down with injuru in the last couple of games and may return the second week of the playoffs. Hopefully he can return at full strength since the Defenders really need him to make a run in the playoffs.

6) Wayne County (4A / 8 – 2)

The Cardinals finish the season with impressive 8 – 2 record with their only losses being to a 6A Madison Central and a close loss to Bell County at Log Mountain. Junior Dalton Garner leads the Cardinal rushing attack with 93 yards per game. Underclassmen ColtonTurpin, Lane Turner and Aubrey Weaver each have three interceptions on the season.

5) Danville (2A / 9 – 1)

The Admirals have outscored opponents almost 4 to 1 over the season showing they get it done on both sides of the ball. Since September 5^th (vs Boyle County) the Admirals have had morethan 7 points scored on them. This Admiral team can definitely bring home another State Championship to Title Town.

4) Boyle County (3A / 9 – 1)

The Rebels complete the second season of second Chuck Smith era with another 9 – 1 record. Senior Josiah Robbins leads the revamped and more passing oriented Rebel offense this year. In previous years a rematch with the arch-rival Knights was almost a given. But with a tougher region in 3A the Rebels will have some work to do in the playoffs.

3) Lexington Catholic (3A / 7 – 3)

The Knights seem to be hitting their potential and peak at the right time. Expecting a very tough battle with Southwestern the Knights found themselves with a commanding lead after the first quarter that include big offensive plays and a defense lead by Elk Mitchell who scored on a pick-6 and then caused a fumble the next series.

2) Lafayette (6A / 8 – 2)

The Generals have had a very strong year and won their district. Junior Walker Wood has lead the offense for the Generals. Wood, along with senior Mason Alstatt, each have over 1,000 yards rushing. The Generals can put the points on the board. It’s the defense that needs to step up in the playoffs if the Generals want to make a run at Bowling Green.

1) Scott County (6A / 9 – 1 )

The Cardinals go undefeated in the state of Kentucky and are the top team in the Lexington / Central Kentucky area. The Cardinals have racked up over 3,000 yards of rushing with seniors Noah Hughes having over 1,000 yards and Keith Guy having over 800. They will have run back through the local 6A gauntlet in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs. A rematch with Lafayette may be on the horizon.

 

 

Playoff Outlook

 

Of the teams above the favorites to make it to Bowling Green have to the Danville Admirals and Paris Greyhounds in the 2A and 1A classes respectively. Lexington Catholic looks to hit stride at the right time for a tough 3A class. Boyle County needs a good run and will likely have very tough game starting in the second round. 4A Wayne County may be able to get to Bowling Green since 4A has a different look this year. Madison Southern is the only 5A team in the ranking. They need to bounce back from the loss to Central. Scott County is the 6A favorite. A rematch with Lafayette looks possible, if not likely. Bryan Station will need to regain form if Key is able to return. Whoever comes out on top in 6A will face stiff challenges from the north and west in the Semis or Finals.

Great info!

How does Madison Southern or Madison Central make it over Tates Creek or Henry Clay? There is no logical answer to that question. These are either biased or terrible.

 

I guess results on the field mean nothing.

Just so everyone knows where I am coming from Tates Creek has defeated both Madison Southern and Madison Central and had Lafayette on the ropes in the 4th quarter. and then blew Ashland out last week. Henry Clay has beaten Tates Creek and Bryan Station.

 

Madison Central also beat Wayne Co. who is #6 and Madison Central is #8.

 

I've seen every team on this list live and in person this year. I know rankings are tough but if this is the best BGP can do then its flat out laughable.

This started in the early 2000's when both schools in In Boyle County won the state title in their respective classes in back to back years 2000-2001 then both schools won again in 2003. In 2004 both schools finished as state runner ups.

Should also add that these are the only 2 schools in the small county of Boyle. The county has a total population of a little over 25,000.

 

Boyle has 7 State Championships 1999,2000,2001,2002,2003, 2009, 2010

 

Danville has 10 State Championships

They are 5 and 5. Record wise not great. But the head to head results are valid points.

 

Filling in in the last 2 spots the last few weeks has been frustrating.

 

The Commadores have a super QB with over 2000 yards. And a top defensive player leading the region in tackles.

Their five losses are to Henry Clay, Bryan Station, Belfry, Scott Co. and Lafayette. If Madison Central or Madison Southern had to play that difficult a schedule they'd probably be 1-9 or 0-10.

 

Madison Southern is 4-5 that's a losing record.

 

Listen, I know rankings are difficult but these are not credible at this point. There is no reason to make excuses
