The Lexington/Central Kentucky Power Rankings – Oct. 25 Sponsored by Jess-105.9

The Rankings

10) Madison Southern (5A / 4 – 4 / Streak – 3W / Next Opp: Madison Central)

The Eagles have hit a hot at the right time – in the district games. The Eagles win 43 to 28 over Anderson County to go undefeated in the district. This week is Madison Central for the crown of Madison.

District Champion.

9) Paris (1A / 9 – 0 / Streak 9W / Next Opp: Bethlehem , SN)

The Greyhounds were off this week. Senior night will be October 30th against Bethlehem.

District Champion.

8) Franklin County (4A / 7 – 2 / Streak – 1W / Next Opp: Christian Academy - Lousville)

The Flyers get the win against North Oldham to improve to 7 and 2. But the two losses were district loses and push the Flyers down to 4th in district. Spencer County and Shelby County each only have 1 loss in the district. Collins and Franklin County are both 2 and 2. But Collins beat Franklin.

4th place district.

7) Bryan Station (6A / 6 – 4 / Streak – 2L / Next Opp: Tates Creek (Playoffs))

Defenders go down to district rival Henry Clay 42 to 28. The impact senior Devon Key had on this Bryan Stration team was apparent in these last two games. The Defenders regular season is complete. They will be on the road for the playoffs.

3rd place district.

6) Wayne County (4A / 7 – 2 / Streak 5W / Next Opp: Monroe County, SN)

The Cardinals were off this week. They close the regular season against at home against 2A Monroe County for senior night.

District Champion.

5) Danville (2A / 8 – 1 / Streak 6W / Next Opp: Frankfort, SN)

The Admirals got Lexington Christian and come away undefeated in district play with a big 41 to 7 win. The Admirals close regular season play against Frankfort at home for their senior night.

4) Boyle County (3A / 8 – 1 / Streak – 1W / Next Opp: Dunbar, SN)

The Rebels bounce back with an easy win over Western Hills, 52 to 20. The Rebels host 6A Dunbar for senior night.

3) Lexington Catholic (3A / 6 – 3 / Streak 3W / Next Opp: Southwestern)

The Knights win the district with a less than easy win against Garrard County, 28 – 16 on senior night. The Knights travel to Southwestern to close out regular season play.

2) Lafayette (6A / 8 – 2 / Streak – 4W / Next Opp: Dunbar (Playoffs))

The Generals go undefeated in the district – barely. The Generals squeak by Tates Creek 29 to 28.

District Champion.

1) Scott County (6A / 8 – 1 / Streak – 5W / Next Opp: Covington Catholic, SN)

The Cardinals get a come from behind win, 14 – 7, to win-out in the district. They close at home against Covington Catholic.

District Champion.

Ranking Notes

The ‘upset’ of the week is Henry Clay over Bryan Station. Devon Key was out of the line-up and that definitely hurt the Defenders. Bryan Station has next week off and will play Tates Creek in the first week of the playoffs. It is difficult to gauge the Defenders without Key. They drop but not all the way out.

Madison Southern enters the top 10 with a winning streak in the key district games. I looked closely at Montgomery County again, but Madison Southern seems to be the hot team now.

Lafayette and Scott County eek out wins but each wins their respective districts with undefeated district records. These may well meet for a rematch in four weeks.

The most consistent football seems to come from the schools in Boyle County. The Rebels bounce back to beat Western Hills and Danville gets a relatively easy win over LCA. The two schools are 16 – 2 combined.

Game of the Week

Madison Southern (5A #10) vs Madison Central (6A), October 30, 7:30. Madison Central

An in—county rivalry game to end the regular season. Both teams have had inconsistent seasons but Madison Southern seems to be the hot team coming out of district play. It’s senior night at Madison Central
