Wow, big shocker to start the 2015 season, number one ranked Highlands takes a loss, not only a loss but a loss to a Kentucky team, not only a loss to a Kentucky team, but a loss to a Northern Kentucky team - Cooper. Cooper has built a good program in a short time of existence, but not many expected them to beat Highlands in their first attempt. Is the sky falling in Fort Thomas? How will the Blue Birds recover from starting the season 0-1?

Bowling Green started another winning streak this week, beating Monroe County pretty handily even thought Monroe County is expected to have a good season in 2015. How many wins will the Purples rattle off in a row this time? Are they the new Class 5A king until proven otherwise?

It looks like the competition at the top of the class is going to be fierce, Pulaski County showed that they are not conceding that their State Championship was one and done by beating Jeffersonville, Indiana and scoring over 60 points in their first contest. The Maroons are showing the Blue Birds and the Purples that there is another color people should worry about.

Eddie Eviston’s return to Northern Kentucky Football probably didn’t start like he wanted, after suffering a game one loss to Ryle, but there is still a buzz at Covington Catholic. And, after a Highlands loss, the buzz just got bigger. But, before the Colonels see Highlands they have a “murder’s row” of a schedule to worry about. Can Covington Catholic survive the difficult schedule to win when it matters? Or, will they lose the team in trying to get there?

Owensboro started the season as planned, with a win. The Red Devils rattled off 29 points and held Warren Central to one score. Owensboro is definitely in the Class 5A discussion. How will the Red Devils do against Madisonville this week?

Many people may have slightly overlooked Southwestern with Pulaski County’s success, but remember Southwestern was one of only two teams to beat the Maroons last season (the other being Bowling Green in the regular season). The Warriors put up 57 points in game one this season. What should we expect from Southwestern this week?

Dixie Heights is a big question mark. After success in 2014, they lost a big part of their experience to graduation but was still expected to do well in 2015. They have yet to play a game, but a beating at the hands of Beechwood in a scrimmage has people asking questions. Will Dixie Heights be able to re-group and have a great 2015? Were they a one hit wonder last year? Where do their chips fall for 2015?

Anderson County beat a good South Oldham team in game one 32-21. Many may have expected a more convincing win from the Bearcats, but don’t overlook the strength of South Oldham.

The battle of Laurel County went to North Laurel and they made a statement doing it, 56-0. North Laurel went 8-4 in 2014. Will they be able to top that in 2015?

Christian County starts the season off 1-0. How far will they be able to go in 2015?

Bullitt East, Graves County, South Oldham and Woodford County all started the season with a loss. Bullitt East to Eastern who may be a good opponent to show them what they need to fix. Woodford County lost a game that they possible should have won if they are going to compete at the upper level of Class 5A, a 37-32 setback to North Bullitt. South Oldham lost to number eight Anderson, not a surprise. Graves County took the worst loss to Hopkinsville, 48-21. What does that tell us about Graves County?

Grayson County starts 2015 in the win column with a 24-7 victory over Hancock County. Will Grayson County be able to make some noise in the class?
