Dominating performance by the Golden Lions defense Friday night against Lloyd Memorial. Garrard County held Lloyd to 72 yards total offense and ran for 229 yards themselves to put away the Juggernauts. Garrard's ball control offense was led by junior Noah Williams who ran for 128 yards and a score. Freshman Jaylan McPherson had his first carries of the season, gaining 36 yards on 8 carries, to go along with his first varsity interception. Senior fullback Garrett Caudill ran for two scores, kicked two field goals, made three PATs, and ran in a two-point conversion. Quarterback Billy Abney, coming off of an injury last week against Anderson County, didn't look as sharp as normal, but still threw for 62 yards and found freshman Mike Redmon for a 36 yard diving catch.

There is a lot to like about this Garrard team. They obviously are not a big play offense, but they have the ability to churn out yards, move the sticks, and keep their opponent off the field. And when on the field, the defense has been stellar. There are too many defenders to name, but I've been particularly impressed with junior defensive end Bradley Rector. His motor never stops running.

Garrard plays host to big rival Lincoln County this Friday night in what should be a great ballgame, before kicking off the district season following a bye week.
