There are always a lot of rumors that Joey Votto is gay. I found it interesting that his girlfriend accompanied him to the press conference where the Reds announced his new deal...yet I haven't heard anything about it.

Does this put the rumors to rest? Or is she a "beard"?

Personally, I couldn't care less, so long as he continues to produce on the diamond.

Her name is Jeanne Paulus. Supposedly her & Joey have been dating for 5+ years, and she works as a dental hygienist in Florida.

I'm no body language expert, but the fact that's he staring right at her with a huge smile on his face can be interpretted as either "thank god these people are buying this", or "I'm so glad you are here to share this moment with me". Either way I could care less as long as the guy is happy and focused on the field.
