Inside the 6th Region (2/8/15)

By GoHardITP - Again the 6th region did not have a very good week as it related to teams stringing victories. The only team in the Top 10 that made it through the week without a loss was Bullitt East. Has Bullitt East found their groove at the right time? They have strung together 3 victories in a row and losing 5 of 6 games right before that. Doss continues to beat 6th region teams, but lost to Lexington Dunbar in the Jock Sutherland Classic. After a strong LIT showing that made it within reason to suggest there was not a lot of separation between the 7th & 6th, there now appears to be a growing... Read More →

Inside The 11th Region (2/8/15)

By JokersWild24 - A hectic week of games is now in the books, and just like most weeks, we're left with just as many questions as answers. With the 11th Region drawing the neighboring 12th in the first round of the Sweet 16, anyone with an affiliation to either region who regularly reads or converses on BGP was probably ecstatic because it meant that a rivalry for fan's bragging rights that'd been going on for around two years will now be settled, at least for a summer. Lots of the top teams in the 11th and 12th have already played one another. Some still have games remaining, which leaves you wondering... Read More →

Inside the 9th Region (2/3)

By Walter - January has passed and we are now less than a month away from district tournament play. Let's take a look at last week's action as we jump right in to the 9th region top 10. 1. Covington Catholic (19-4) Why: The Colonels went 2-0 since the last "Inside the 9th Region" and have now won 8 straight. Covcath 65 Pleasure Ridge Park 54 Cole Vonhandorf scored a career high 29 points as the Colonels continued their hot streak and knocked off yet another ranked opponent. Inside the 13th Region 2/2/15

By Les - Itís been another interesting week of high school basketball in the 13th Region. The more thing change, the more things stay the same as Clay County remains unbeaten against 13th Region competition. Williamsburg suffered its first loss of the season this past week while North Laurelís new addition, Isaiah Collier, has helped guide the Jaguars to two consecutive wins. 1. Clay County (19-4 overall, 13-0 vs. 13th Region opponents) The Tigers keep rolling against 13th Region foes, and is now a perfect 13-0 against their regional counterparts, but with that said, seven of those wins have been... Inside the 8th Region 2-2-15

By ColonelMike - It wasn't a bad week around the 8th Region, as the 8th went 10-7 against the other regions. Kudos to... COLLINS for arguably the most impressive out-of-region win this past week, a victory over the powerful Eastern Eagles from the 7th Region. It was the Titans' second win over the Eagles this season... OWEN COUNTY - The Rebels (21-3) represented the 8th region well in the state All-A tournament, defeating Augusta and Shelby Valley to reach the semi-finals, where they fell just short of the title game in a loss to Monroe County. It was the farthest an 8th Region team had... Read More →

Inside the 1st Region 2/2/15

By Region 1 Basketball - The week that was for Region 1. I still have Calloway as #1 even after their loss to Caldwell. I still got Murray locked in at #2. Their loss last week was to a solid Monroe County team in the All A. After that it is a jumbled mess. On Tuesday, McCracken County lost @ Carlisle County so I was ready to drop them way down in the rankings but they rebounded and beat Graves County on the road. Graves who I was ready to move up to #3 lost to a struggling McCracken County team. Paducah Tilghman lost to Marshall County for the 2nd time. Tilghman had beat Marshall by 36 during December and have lost... Read More →

Inside the 12th Region 2/2/15

By SHS Future - 12th Region Review 2/2/15 We still have a few weeks of regular season basketball left before the playoffs begin but one thing we can take from the season thus far; this is going to be a very interesting 12th Regional Tournament. This past week proved that anyone in the 12th Region can win on any given night so favorites wonít necessarily have an advantage come tournament time. Both Boyle County and Wayne County avenged their only district losses and gave Lincoln County and Southwestern their first district loss. East Jessamine upsets district leading Mercer County to put the 46th District... Read More →

Inside the 10th Region (2-2-15)

By Randy Parker - Mason County reaches 20 wins mark Mason County was triumphant in both of its outings last week, giving the program at least 20 wins for the second straight year. The Royals jumped out to a 13-0 lead against Paris on Tuesday night and kept the visiting Greyhounds at an arm's distance the rest of the way, winning 67-50. Playing without starting point guard Antwavon Williams, Mason had to do its damage down low and did, dominating the battle of the boards to the tune of 48-21. Inside the 15th Region 2/2/15

By 15th Region - Overview: The deeper we go into the season, the harder it gets to produce a top 5 for the 15th Region. Many questions still remain as we approach the regional tournament. Can Lawrence County get it together and play to their potential? Will Sheldon Clark get healthy in time to make a run at their first 15th Region Title since 1983? Will Johnson Central and Head Coach Tommy McKenzie continue to dominate the 15th Region? Is Pike Central the real deal? Can Bill Mike Runyon keep Paintsville playing at a high level night in and night out? Are Shelby Valley and Betsy Layne a real threat or... Read More →

District seed games with Fleming County and Bath County are on tap this week. 1A. Boyd County (18-4) The Lions split games with Russell and Madison Central last week. Inside the 6th Region (2/1/15)

By GoHardITP - Not a great week for the teams at the top of the 6th Region this week as 4 of the Top 5 teams lost games to opponents from out of the region. Only DeSales won and their 3 victories were over teams that were not on paper going to challenge them anyway. There is 3 weeks remaining in the regular season and the final remaining games give teams an opportunity to get on a roll entering the district tournaments. Top 10 1.) Doss Despite losing their only game of the week, overall it was a decent bounce back game after the really bad lost to Trinity which also was the site of the reported... Read More →
