Inside the 1st Region 2/2/15

By Region 1 Basketball - The week that was for Region 1. I still have Calloway as #1 even after their loss to Caldwell. I still got Murray locked in at #2. Their loss last week was to a solid Monroe County team in the All A. After that it is a jumbled mess. On Tuesday, McCracken County lost @ Carlisle County so I was ready to drop them way down in the rankings but they rebounded and beat Graves County on the road. Graves who I was ready to move up to #3 lost to a struggling McCracken County team. Paducah Tilghman lost to Marshall County for the 2nd time. Tilghman had beat Marshall by 36 during December and have lost... Read More →

Inside the 12th Region 2/2/15

By SHS Future - 12th Region Review 2/2/15 We still have a few weeks of regular season basketball left before the playoffs begin but one thing we can take from the season thus far; this is going to be a very interesting 12th Regional Tournament. This past week proved that anyone in the 12th Region can win on any given night so favorites wonít necessarily have an advantage come tournament time. Both Boyle County and Wayne County avenged their only district losses and gave Lincoln County and Southwestern their first district loss. Inside the 10th Region (2-2-15)

By Randy Parker - Mason County reaches 20 wins mark Mason County was triumphant in both of its outings last week, giving the program at least 20 wins for the second straight year. The Royals jumped out to a 13-0 lead against Paris on Tuesday night and kept the visiting Greyhounds at an arm's distance the rest of the way, winning 67-50. Playing without starting point guard Antwavon Williams, Mason had to do its damage down low and did, dominating the battle of the boards to the tune of 48-21. Dorian Henry led the way with 21 points & 13 rebounds, while senior forward Jake O'Mara was also... Read More →

Inside the 15th Region 2/2/15

By 15th Region - Overview: The deeper we go into the season, the harder it gets to produce a top 5 for the 15th Region. Many questions still remain as we approach the regional tournament. Can Lawrence County get it together and play to their potential? Will Sheldon Clark get healthy in time to make a run at their first 15th Region Title since 1983? Will Johnson Central and Head Coach Tommy McKenzie continue to dominate the 15th Region? Is Pike Central the real deal? Can Bill Mike Runyon keep Paintsville playing at a high level night in and night out? Are Shelby Valley and Betsy Layne a real threat or... Read More →

Inside the 6th Region (2/1/15)

By GoHardITP - Not a great week for the teams at the top of the 6th Region this week as 4 of the Top 5 teams lost games to opponents from out of the region. Only DeSales won and their 3 victories were over teams that were not on paper going to challenge them anyway. There is 3 weeks remaining in the regular season and the final remaining games give teams an opportunity to get on a roll entering the district tournaments. Top 10 1.) Doss Despite losing their only game of the week, overall it was a decent bounce back game after the really bad lost to Trinity which also was the site of the reported... Read More →

Inside The 11th Region (2/1/15)

By JokersWild24 - The grinder that is the 11th Region keeps churning, with lots of big games over the past week. As has been the case for most of the season, the rankings have seen some shake-ups. The most noticeable difference is at the top, as Bryan Station, who is on a 7 game win streak, now wears the crown. I was particularly impressed by the Defender’s win over Dunbar, who has been red-hot and who turned around and beat DuPont Manual in Louisville the very next night. As has been the case for most of the season, however, “uneasy lies the head that wears a crown”, and the Defenders CANNOT overlook the... Read More →

Newport Guard Ethan Snapp Garnering D1 Interest

By PrepHoopsKY - 2016 Newport Guard Ethan Snapp may be the most entertaining player to watch in the state. He’s a good ball-handler with a lot of shiftiness in the way he creates separation to get off his shot. He’s a good shooter that can pull-up from anywhere on the court and knock down shots. He gets into the lane well and usually finishes, although his thin frame does make it hard when he draws contact. Right now Lipscomb, Belmont, UNC-Greensboro, Wofford and the University of Charleston are the schools Ethan is hearing from. He has received an offer already from Charleston. He also has two visits... Read More →

Inside the 9th Region (1-27)

By Walter - As the month of January starts to close, the 9th region picture is becoming a lot clearer as to who the favorites are, who could potentially upset a favorite, and how the bottom of the top 10 shakes out. Let's get right to this week's top 10 and more: 1. Covington Catholic (17-4) Why: There isn't a hotter team in Northern Kentucky and possibly the state right now.
