Beechwood Tigers Notebook - The Bewitching Hour

By EyeOfTheTiger - We have reached the final regular season game - the annual end of the regular season battle versus rival Newport Central Catholic. This year the game will be played on Halloween night, which almost seems fitting. It is the night when the masks come off and the Tigers find out where they really stand as they get ready for the playoffs. The Tigers wrapped up district play with a 41-7 thrashing of the Ludlow Panthers. Beechwood has never lost a 1A district game since the 6 class era started. This year they dominated district play perhaps more than any other year. All of the games were decided... Read More →

Trinity notes: Rocks face Archbishop Moeller on Halloween.

By thsrocks - Trinity (5-4) enjoyed the week off and now faces a road trip to Cincinnati Moeller. Moeller (6-3) suffered a loss to Lakewood, OH St Edward Eagles (7-2) on Saturday. On the first play from scrimmage, Moeller allowed a touchdown. It was an 80-yard jaunt up the middle. Later, the Crusaders muffed a punt inside the 20 that led to a field goal by the Eagles. Another turnover in the second quarter cost the Crusaders, as they threw a pick-six that covered around 15 yards. Despite the loss, the Fighting Crusaders appear to have a lock on making the Ohio Division 1 (top level of 7 divisions)... Read More →

Collins Notebook 10/22/14

By blueandblack14 - Friday night’s game at North Oldham is so important for Collins that you could say it is Titanic. That is because, after Collins’ 48-6 win over Waggener, the Titans are just a win over North Oldham away from winning their 5th straight district title and hosting 3 out of the first 4 playoff games at Titan Stadium. However, a loss would create a 3-way tie for first place between Collins, North Oldham, and Spencer County. A 3-way tie would most likely make Collins the 3 seed and have them playing on the road throughout the playoffs. Last Friday Collins had no trouble with Waggener, even... Read More →

Beechwood Notebook - Program Review

By EyeOfTheTiger - Last week we took a look back at the Tigers season to date. As the regular season draws to an end, let's take a look at all the Beechwood football teams and the state of the program in Tiger town. Varsity's season was reported last week and they are having another great year. With 6 wins in a row including victories over ranked big school opponents Franklin County and Covington Catholic, the varsity Tigers are looking forward to the playoffs with hopes of finally getting that elusive 12th state championship. On the JV level, this has truly been a year of experience and development. The... Read More →

Bowling Green Purples Notebook

By Purple Nation - Very few, if any, Purple followers thought that after week 8 that the Purples would be standing at 7-1. In fact, the Purples had a genuine chance of being 8-0 if it wasn't for a dropped interception late in the game vs McCallie. The question marks that people had of the Purples before the season started has truly been answered. Can Campbell Gott step in and lead this team? Answer: yes. Campbell has answered any naysayers about his leadership capabilities. He has thrown 20 TD passes with only 2 ints. He has connected several 3rd and long conversions and maybe the biggest surprise to... Read More →

St. Xavier Tigers Notebook

By LongTimeReader - Last WeekRecord 6-3 Recap Coming off a loss to Male, the Tigers looked to rebound with a win over Manual. It has been a long time since Manual has knock off the Tigers and many thought this was the year the Crimsons would be able to walk off the field with a victory over the Tigers; it may have been a new year, but it was the same outcome. The Tigers started quick, which has been key to their success in their district wins, and the defense played with the same intensity and execution they have displayed all season. Senior QB, Noah Houk lead the Tiger offense to 313 total yards.... Read More →

Collins Notebook 10/15/14

By blueandblack14 - For the Titans, Friday night just wasn’t their night. Luckily the rain subsided for the most part before kickoff, but conditions were still rough with a cold and wet field. Couple that with playing an undefeated 6A opponent and you get a night you’d like to soon forget. The good thing for the Titans is they do get to forget about it as they reenter 4A District 3 play this week after their 34-9 loss at the hands of the Central Hardin Bruins. Friday night will travel down Shelbyville Road to take on Waggener with hopes of improving to 3-0 in the district and one step closer to their 5th... Read More →

Beechwood Tigers Notebook - Halftime

By EyeOfTheTiger - The Tigers have reached the halfway point of their season. It is a good time to assess where the Tigers are and what the prospects are for the rest of this 2014 season. As the season opened, there were high hopes for the 2014 Tigers. They returned nearly all their starters. The off season workouts were as good or better then they had ever been. The team had great work ethic and comraderie. The first two scrimmages versus 5A Conner and Ohio D3 Goshen were blowouts and this team entered the season with confidence high. However, Ohio D2 top ten Mt. Healthy was awaiting. The Tigers preseason... Read More →

By CoachBuckett - Frankfort High Panthers this week enter district play against its longest and most important rival the Paris Greyhounds. These two teams have had physical intense football games for the last 50 years. This rivalry goes back to Frankfort very first game in 1913 when Paris defeat Frankfort 6-0.
