By 15th Region - Overview: The top two teams in the region both fell to regional competition for the first time in the same week. Pikeville went down in the first round of the All-A State tournament and suffered a key injury to a player that may have regional title implications, Paintsville picked up a statement win on the eve of their biggest game of the year, Floyd Central has impressive athletes but plays an unimpressive style, and Pike Central knocked off Johnson Central for the first time in the Coach Whitaker era. Let’s see how the rankings have been shaken up after nine weeks of play. Rankings:... Read More →

BluegrassPrep's 13th Region Rankings (1-29-18)

Corbin (15-4 overall, 8-2 vs. 13th Region competition) The Redhounds are back at the top spot and are 7-1 sent their loss to Knox Central in the Cumberland Falls Invitational Corbin’s only setback was to South Laurel this past week, but they responded with a big home win against Harlan County. This team is getting better and better as the season progresses. 2. Knox Central (17-4, 7-1) The Panthers have hit a few bumps int he road the past few weeks with hopes of getting back on track. Knox Central is 2-3 during its past five games. It doesn’t get any easier with games against Whitley... Read More → 12th Region Rankings 1/29/18

By SHS Future - 2017-2018 12th Region Weekly Updates January is coming to an end and the competition is heating up. Only three weeks left in the regular season and the districts are starting to take shape. There were some upsets last week causing some movement in this week’s rankings. So take a look and see how your team is doing in this week’s 12th Region update. 12th Region Rankings: 1) Pulaski County Maroons (15-5) – The Maroons started this past week strong. They beat Russell County 78-64 and Rockcastle County 61-41. They ended the week with a loss to Estill County 67-81 in a controversial... Read More → Seventh Region update and rankings - 1/29/18

By Smallhoops - All in all, this was not a great week for the Seventh Region. The eighteen Seventh Region teams combined to go 13-20 against teams from other regions this week. And the Region’s top-ranked team, Trinity, lost its second game of the season, a 53-52 loss to Madison Central. Of course, it was not all bad news for teams in the Seventh Region. Ballard went 3-0 for the week, including an impressive win over the Fern Creek Tigers from the Sixth Region. And the Collegiate Titans represented the Seventh Region well in the All A state tournament, beating Raceland in the first round before... Read More → 5th Region Weekly Rankings (1/28/18)

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (17-5): Bruins started off the week with a loss, but ended the week with a big win. They lost to Adair County at Adair, 66-65. They beat Fort Knox 88-43 and beat Oldham County 73-46. They lost another region game, but beating a top 20 team in Oldham, was very big for them. Standout Mickey Pearson had 33 and 12 versus Oldham, as they lost to them earlier in the year, so that was an impressive bounce back win. John will get its chance at more revenge, as they play Elizabethtown at home this upcoming week. 2. Larue County (18-2): The Hawks continue to win, as they won all three... By coachlee - Five 6th region teams have only a single loss to another 6th region team and those 5 are now ranked in the Top 5. As the rankings get toward the late part of the season, focus is going to be on regional records and which teams are likely to make noise in the tournament to advance to Rupp Arena. After all, what really matters is getting to Rupp in March and everything done up to that point will become a side note. So here are the new rankings with that thought in mind. 1. Doss (16-5): Doss has more regional wins than anybody else with an 8-1 record that is impressive considering they... Read More → 2018 - Inside the 8th Region 1-28-18

By ColonelMike - As we head into month #3 of the 2017-18 season, the 8th region continues to have no clear-cut favorite. The Big Three remain the Big Three - but all three are showing reasons why they should be number one - and reasons why they shouldn't be. Meanwhile, at least four schools are showing the ability to make a run for the 2018 title. If that's not cause enough for excitement, how about this: 7 of the top 8 teams appear headed for the Region 8 Tournament in New Castle, assuming no upsets in the district tournaments. I’ve been covering the 8th region since 1979….and I was watching it closely... Read More → Region 16 Week in Review (1-28-18)

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball in Review Teams in the 16th were able to play a full schedule for the first time in the last three weeks and it didn’t disappoint. I'm more convinced then ever that the total disparity in the region is minuscule. With Fleming County beginning to win games and the top teams looking vulnerable it appears the region is truly up for grabs. 1. Ashland (17-2) – The Tomcats came away with two victories this week, but both were hard fought and much closer than most, including myself, would have expected. Early in the week Ashland barely escaped with a 1-point win... Read More → 4th Region Weekly Rankings (1/28/18)

By DragonFire - Fourth Region Rankings 1) Warren Central (18-3) - 1/23 69-56 W at #11 South Warren, 1/26 57-66 L #2 Bowling Green Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 1/30 vs. Taylor County, 2/2 vs. #7 Warren East, 2/3 at Elizabethtown A huge run in the second quarter decided each game for the Dragons this week. Unfortunately for them, only one of those was by them. The Dragons blew open the game against South Warren with a 19-1 run, turning a 4 point lead into 22 midway through the quarter. Perhaps it was ominous that the Dragons then sleptwalked through much of the rest of the game, including... Read More → 8th Region rankings 1-23-18

By ColonelMike - The 8th Region once again claimed some nice victories against powerful competition from outside the region this past week....Kudos to Walton-Verona for a big win over Campbell County, one of the top two ranked teams in the 10th region, and ranked in the top 20 of the statewide poll....have to think the Bearcats should be getting a little more love statewide... Ditto for Collins; the red-hot Titans needed overtime, but they defeated 6th region power Valley, 100-94. Valley is unranked, but beat Mayfield twice and PRP, while losing to Butler and Paducah Tilghman each in... Read More → 9th Region Rankings 1/23/2018

By ApolloFan98 - The 3rd region is starting to become a 1 horse race. The Owensboro Red Devils have emerged now as the overwhelming favorite to rep the 3rd at Rupp Arena. Not only are they winning region games, they are blowing teams out. With the way they play, it would be hard to foresee them being upset in an elimination game. Its time to start looking at the Devils in the state polls. 1.Owensboro Red Devils (14-4) – SAME – The Devils continued to show their dominance inside the region with a 82-65 win at Daviess County on Saturday. The game was never in doubt. OHS was led by Cory Gardner's 27. ... Read More → 6th Region Week in review (1/22/18)

By coachlee - Going to be a little shorter edition due to an out of town trip, but wanted to be sure to get a new Top Rankings out in the 6th region as we have a new #1 for the first time since early in the 2016/2017 season, the Doss Dragons. Doss outworked the Fern Creek team to flip rankings with the Tigers and claim the #1 spot with a 65-59 victory in the LIT semifinals on Saturday. But Butler is right there with them as they actually played eventual LIT champion to a very tight game losing on a last second shot by the Shamrocks. There is not much separation with these 3 and it will be a battle to... Read More → 1st Region Week 8 in Review & Rankings

By silo11 - 1st Region Boys Basketball Review Week 8 Weather cancelled some games this week, but the All “A” Classic still was able to get going. Mayfield looks to win and make a splash at the State level as well. This week also puts 2 teams, Mayfield (17) and Paducah Tilghman (15) in the BlueGrassPreps Top 20. Congrats to both of those teams, it is well deserved. Speaking of, if you are in Western Ky on Tuesday, Jan 23, head over to Paducah and watch those two matchup for the first time this year. Should be a dandy! 1. Paducah Tilghman – Coach Roderick Thomas BGP #15... Read More →
