Trinity earns date with Dixie Heights in 6A Championship

By thsrocks - Trinity (9-5) defeated Meade County (11-3) 48-0 last Friday in Brandenburg. The Rocks now take a trip to Bowling Green’s Jimmy Feix Field. The stadium is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Kenton County’s Dixie Heights (13-1) is the foe in the KHSAA Class 6A Gridiron Bowl. The kickoff is scheduled for 7PM EST on Saturday, December 6. In the semi-state game played in Edgewood, senior quarterback Drew Moore (6’3” 180 lbs) led the Colonels to their 48-21 victory over Ballard (10-4). The region featured three top 10 teams, statewide, for the majority of the season with two of those teams winning state championships. The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds won their second consecutive All “A” Classic State Championship, defeating Cordia 72-61 in the finals, while the Covington Catholic Colonels became just the third Northern Kentucky team to win a Sweet 16 State Championship. By Region 1 Basketball - Top Teams: 1. Calloway County, the hands on favorite to win the region this year. They return several key players led by Skylar Hunter, Parker Adams, and Conner Wagner. The Lakers were a balanced team last year. Adams averaged 13.4, Hunter 11.9, and Wagner 10.4. They also return in the backcourt Wade Carter who averaged 6.3 points. A rematch from last year’s regional championship game where Williamsburg defeated Hazard 21-7. By thsrocks - Trinity (8-5) defeated St. Xavier (8-5) 9-3 last Friday. The Rocks now take a trip to Hamilton Stadium in Brandenburg to meet Meade County High School. The winner gets a trip to WKU to play the Ballard (10-3)/Dixie Heights (12-1) victor. Senior John Wilson (5’11” 165) at quarterback leads the Greenwave (one word per school website). In their victory over Central Hardin (12-1) Wilson completed 7 of 9 pass attempts for 79 yards with one interception. Wilson rushed for 137 yards on 28 carries.
