Inside the 15th Region - Season Review/Awards/57th, 58th, 59th, 60th District Preview

By 15th Region - 15th Region Overview: The regular season has come and gone and with it everyone's record is reset. Tournament time is here but before we break down the region district by district, let's recap the basketball season the 15th Region saw. Injury and illness seemed to plague the best teams in the region. Johnson Central saw the worst of it early by losing Senior PF Truman Salyer for the year to a football injury before the season began, Kyle Gullett to an ankle injury in the 3rd game of the season (missed 8 games), Patrick Rice (Morehead State University signee) for 6 weeks due to a... 37th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 37th District Tournament Preview The Campbell County Middle School is again the site for the 37th District Tournament, where Brad Carr's Scott Eagles are the top-seed. Campbell County, the defending District and Regional champs, claimed the #2 seed and will square off with bitter rival Bishop Brossart, the #3 seed. Silver Grove and Calvary Christian find themselves in familiar positions as the #4 and #5 seeds, respectively. The 37th is typically a dog-fight, and we don't expect that to change in 2015. Scott went through the regular season undefeated in district play, thanks in... Read More →

38th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 38th District Tournament Preview The 10th Region's newest home floor, Robertson County High School, will be the site for the 2015 38th District Tournament. One of four districts in Kentucky that uses a blind draw for its postseason, the 38th actually looks more like a seeded tournament than a drawn tournament this year. Harrison County and Pendleton County are opposite one another after having squared off in the opening round the last 3 seasons. This year, the Thorobreds will face Nicholas County, while the Wildcats take on the host Black Devils. Harrison County, the two-time... Read More →

39th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 39th District Tournament Preview The tradition rich Mason County Fieldhouse is the venue for the 2015 39th District Tournament. This annual February get-together has drawn statewide attention for the last two years, thanks to Augusta twice knocking off Mason County in the opening round. There will be no first round matchup between the two this year, as we'll see county rivals square off to start the tourney. The two-time defending champ Panthers will take on Bracken County, while the heavy-favorite Royals entertain St. Patrick. Undefeated in the 10th Region, and with only 2... Read More →

40th District Tournament Preview

By Randy Parker - 40th District Tournament Preview Bourbon County is the host for the 2015 40th District Tournament. While the bracket is set up exactly as it has been the last 2 seasons, there seems to be much more parity this year. Top-seeded Montgomery County lost its first district game to Paris by a score of 54-51 on December 9th. But the Indians won their last 5 district contests, including a couple of nail-biters against rival George Rogers Clark, and then avenged the Paris loss with a road victory two weeks ago. Four Indians have double-digit scoring averages, led by 6'3" junior Art... Read More →

2015 15th District Tournament Preview

By DragonFire - There are not many 4th Region records in any time recent that I would claim to not know, but Monroe County accomplished something this season that I am not certain of how long it has been since it occurred. The Falcons ran through their regular season unbeaten against 4th Region teams, and I cannot tell you the last time a team outside the 14th District accomplished that. It is very rare and Monroe County is to be applauded for it. I point that out so you may understand that it is a no-brainer that they are the clear cut favorite for the 15th District crown. That’s not to say they’re... Read More →

2015 13th District Tournament Preview

By DragonFire - Last year the 13th District was chaos, with seemingly anyone capable of beating any other team. There’s not nearly as much of that this season and everything settled into a nice package at the end, with Logan County sweeping everyone, Russellville sweeping everyone else, and Franklin-Simpson just sweeping Todd County Central. Which would seem to set up a boring 13th District tournament, but there is just a bit of intrigue out there thanks to a long midseason absence of the best player in the district, and what his return might bring to the postseason. To the matchups….. February 24th... Read More →

Coach Joe Prince - Thoughts on Football

By theguru - Coaches, 1st I am leaving KY to coach in another state. So my opinions are probably irrelevant, but here goes. I do not want to offend anyone in any way, form or fashion. So please just consider what I have to say. 2nd I was very active at one time in the FB Association. I appreciate what the coaches before me did for our programs, i.e.. Gerald Poynter, Lynn Ray, Sam Harp, Jack Morris, etc. Football has been great for me and my family throughout my life. It truly saved me from being just another poor uneducated person. 3rd We did all the 7 on 7 in June, workouts in July,... Read More →

2015 14th District Tournament Preview

By DragonFire - Coming into the season Bowling Green was pegged as the district and region favorite with Warren Central running just behind. South Warren was considered the dark horse with Warren East and Greenwood bringing up the rear. And now three months later…. that's pretty much where we’re at. For the fifth time in the last six years we have a tie at the top, with both Warren Central and Bowling Green finishing at 7-1 in the district. It was suggested at the district meeting that a different method for breaking the tie be used in the future, but this year we had the standard. Each coach flipped... Read More →

By Les - 49th District It’s been a three-team race in the 49th District in the past, but things have changed a bit with Oneida Baptist showing they can compete with the big three of Clay County, North Laurel and Jackson County. The Mountaineers knocked off the Jaguars once this season and played both the Tigers and Generals close during their meetings during their respective meetings. Clay County will await the winner of Red Bird/Oneida Baptist while North Laurel and Jackson County will square-off in a winner takes all third match-up. The match-ups No. 2 North Laurel vs. No. 3 Jackson County... Read More →

They will face the #4 seed Burgin Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Look for this to be a win for the Colts by a comfortable margin as they should advance to the championship game Friday night. West Jessamine has won six of the last eight 46th District tournaments since 2007. Mercer County Titans (19-8) (4-2) - #2 seed Mercer County will face #3 seed East Jessamine in the first... By SHS Future - 45th District Tournament at Garrard County Lincoln County Patriots (21-5) (5-1) – Lincoln County won the coin flip and received the #1 seed in the 45th District tournament. They are the defending 45th District Tournament champions and play the winner of #4 seed Garrard County and #5 seed Kentucky School for the Deaf. The Patriots did not play KSD in the regular season and more than likely will be playing Garrard County which they defeated twice by 33 points each time. Lincoln County should have no problem getting to the finals of the 45th District and moving on to the 12th Region... Read More →
