My Journey from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu White Belt to Blue.

By mexitucky - In early September of 2015, I was furious. While not out of my usual character, this was far worse. One of my sons was being bullied at school. The current atmosphere had created a depression in him that was extremely difficult to take. There had been an issue in 6th grade when a person broke into his locker and wrote an incredibly racist comment on a white board inside. Two years later, another racial insult had come his way during a church festival in August. Now in September, he was having issues again. Luckily, this was a personality clash and not outwardly racial. Either way, the... Read More →

High Positive

By ChiefSmoke - Yesterday in church, I saw Coach Phil Morse who was the Defensive Coordinator at Centre College for Coach McDaniel back in the mid 80s. 30 years ago, I was in a Sunday School class with Phil, my dad, and Steele Harmon. I learned alot about Jesus and coaching football. Coach Morse always said there were 4 types of coaches: High (intensity) Positive Low Positive High Negative Low Negative He always said High Positive is best. Low negative is the worst. Of all the coaches I have been around, Chuck Smith(Boyle County) was the most intense & Dale Mueller (Highlands) was the most... Read More →

Getting players names out there??

By CoachAdler - My name is Todd Adler, I'm the head coach at Logan County High School. I'm in my 2nd year being head coach and I'm looking for some advice. Everyone knows the struggle our program has went through over the past years. We are working really hard to try and change that this year!! My question is what is best way to get kids names out there to college coaches? No matter the size of the college, what's the best way to get them to notice a kid? I know of course the kid has to be a player, have size, speed, athletic, etc. Just seems like it's always been a struggle for Logan County kids to get... Read More →

6th Region Tourney Preview

By coachlee - The 6th region has had many say that the depth of good teams this year has made it one of the best regions in all the state this year. When teams like Bullitt East, Butler, Fairdale, and even Iroquois fail to make the regional championships it highlights just how good the Top 10-12 teams really are. All of those aforementioned teams have good victories this past season, but failed to punch their ticket to the 6th regionals. But 8 did and here is the preview for each. All 1st seeds receive the advantage of home games and playing two seeds. In order of the draw: Valley at Southern- ... Read More →

1st Region Tournament Preview

By silo11 - 1st Region Tournament Preview (Part 1 - Quarterfinals) There is only 1 real intriguing matchup in the first round of the Region 1 tournament. Quarterfinals should be great! All games will be at Murray State University in the CFSB Center Wednesday March 1: 6:00 Hickman County vs Mayfield This should not be much of a game. These teams met in the regular season and Mayfield won both games by 40+ points. I do not see much of a change in region play. Hickman just isn’t strong enough to hang with the Guthrie brothers and Mayfield. Mayfield wins big. 7:45 Paducah Tilghman vs... Read More →

3rd Region Tournament Preview...

By ApolloFan98 - Wednesday Edmonson Co(19-10) vs Meade Co(10-21) These two teams did not meet in the regular season. Meade is a bit of a wild card with James Baker back in the fold. He dropped 28 points to help eliminate red hot Breck County. Edmonson has had a consistently solid season, and sport two of the better scoring guards in the region in Board & Skaggs. Slight Favorite: Meade County Owensboro Catholic(21-10) vs Ohio County(15-13) Both teams were in hard fought district finals with very close outcomes. The Eagles knocked off the Aces in the last week of the season on a Dylan Decker 3 pointer... Read More →

8th regional tourney pre-view

By 8th Region Warrior - The Roy Winchester Gymnasium on the campus of Henry County High School has been hosting the 8th region tournament for quite sometime, I am thinking 1962-63 may have been the first year? A history guru, "Calling Colonel Mike"..... may know for sure. In that span there has been some of the best basketball that our state has ever witnessed. The coaches and players that have been a part of this region are incredible, and these teams are hoping to cement themselves into that conversation. I would go out on a limb and say that the favorite has not won this region in the last 4 years, and the... Read More →
