The Purples have not officially wrapped up the #1 seed for their... Read More →

10th Region Rankings & Weekly Review (1-31-16)

By Randy Parker - A week of good weather allowed for a full slate of games last week, and there were several closely contested battles. These rankings have not significantly changed, but there has been a bit of movement. #1 - Montgomery County (15-8) The Indians started last week with a 62-60 buzzer-beating loss at Scott on Tuesday night. Playing without leading scorer and rebounder Jerryd Jones, Montgomery stayed with the host Eagles the entire way, but could not escape with a victory. Caswell Fuller scored 17 points and Cody Parsley had 15 in the loss. Matt Daniel's team regrouped to get a pair... Read More →

13th Region Rankings Jan. 31 - Feb. 6

By Les - 1. North Laurel (19-2 overall, 8-2 against 13th Region competition) — The Jaguars are playing some pretty darn good basketball as of late. North Laurel’s 61-57 win over No. 3 Clay County this past week thwarted them into the region’s top spot. The play of Peyton Broughton, Brian Gray, Kyle Jeffers, Adam Sizemore, Bryson Asher and Jaret Lipps has been key of late. Broughton scored 28 in North Laurel’s win against Lee County while Jeffers and Gray came up big against Clay County. Sizemore continues to run the point guard position as good as any one in the region while Asher is improving, and... Read More →

13th Region Rankings Feb. 1 - Feb. 7

By Les - 1. Harlan (19-4 overall, 9-2) — The Lady Green Dragons responded well from their little midseason slump by winning six games in a row before losing to Owensboro Catholic in the All “A” Classic State Tournament this past week. 2. North Laurel (15-6, 10-1) — No team in the 13th Region is hotter than Eddie Mahan’s Lady Jaguars. North Laurel has now won 11 games in a row, which includes two wins over Clay County during the past two weeks. They hadn't beaten the Lady Tigers for 11 straight years. North Laurel did have a scare during its 60-52 win over Clay County, but still managed to come... Read More →

2nd Region Update 1/31

By WKY - There has been a lot of action within the top 10 in the past week. There was a lot of movement in the rankings within the top 5. #1 Madisonville-North Hopkins (18-2, 9-0) SAME The only undefeated team left in region play means they are the unanimous #1, at least for right now. They did come very close to their first region loss on Friday night as Hopkins County Central lead most of the game before letting it slip away at the end. They also had what seemed to be an off night against Lyon County in a low-scoring affair where they narrowly escaped with a victory. They still have a tough test... Read More →

15th Region Notebook (1/29/16)

By All State Baseball - With a winter storm hitting KY and cancelling a lot of ball games across the state, several teams were able to play even with some snow on the ground but the 15th region, among several other regions in EKY had to cancel a lot more games than any of the other regions, due to them being in the mountains. Shelby Valley had to wait 12 days (Jan. 15-27) before they could play. East Ridge played but had long delays in their dates/games. Magoffin County was in the same boat as East Ridge. When Shelby Valley returned to action, they are/were participating in the All “A” State Tournament at... Read More →

2015-16 10th Region Notebook (1/29/16)

By All State Baseball - One of the most exciting regions in KY, especially in Central KY, the 10th region, like every other region, was hammered with cancellations after a winter storm poured out it’s “Flurry” in a hurry last couple of weeks, cancelling ball games left and right. The #1 team in the region, Mason County didn’t have a big break like a lot of teams did, in fact, they got to play games on January 13, 19, 21, 27 and 29th, 4 out of 5 of those games on those dates were W’s for the Lady Royals but the lone loss came to #2 Campbell County on January 29th. Lady Royals will look to get back on track next... Read More →

14th Region Notebook (1/28/16)

By All State Baseball - Coaches and kids were disappointed past couple of weeks after a big winterstorm hit Kentucky, cancelling or making coaches reschedule games for a later date. With the 14th region being “In the mountains” a lot of the games that were canceled will more than likely not be made up as district games are need first due to seeding. The 14th Region looks to be a 3 team race between Knott County Central, Leslie County and Breathitt County. Knott Central Lady Patriots have yet to play Breathitt County but have fell to Leslie County earlier in the season. Leslie County has defeated both Knott... Read More →

16th Region Notebook (1/28/16)

By All State Baseball - As the season continues to wined down, we’ve seen some good action and we’ve seen games get canceled/postponed/rescheduled due to a huge winter storm that wrecked havoic on Kentucky and it’s sports. The only sports that took place were college hoops. The 16th region looks to be a 6-team race to see who goes to Rupp Arena to play in the KHSAA State Boys Sweet 16. Those teams consists of; Ashland, Boyd County, Elliott County, Morgan County, Rowan County, West Carter. Ashland (6-2): (0-1 vs. Elliott County), (0-1 vs. Boyd County), (Have yet to play West Carter and Rowan... Read More →

By theguru - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 28, 2016 The Board of Control addressed a lengthy agenda during its regularly scheduled meeting at the KHSAA Offices on Thursday, approving a slight “midcourse” adjustment to the football alignment as required by the competition rules and future football playoff bracket formats, finalizing a baseball pitch count, and settling on the number of regional qualifiers for the state swimming and diving meet for 2016. 6th Region Rankings 1/27/16

By GoHardITP - With many games canceled from the snow last week, I counted yesterday games in the new rankings as many teams only had a single game or none at all from last rankings. 1) Bullitt East (16-3)- Nice 15 point win over Manual and a blowout over Meade County. Still the dominating team of the region with a 4-0 record. Hats off to Tyler Sharpe, the new 3 point career record holder at Bullitt East. The young man has built quite a legacy. 2) Doss (13-4)- No games since the loss in the LIT to Male, but they deserve this ranking with Fern Creek losing again to Ballard and North Bullitt losing... Region 1 Rankings (1/25/16 Week 8)

By silo11 - Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. Both of the top teams won their tournaments this week and continue to prove they are the best in Region 1. Here are the rankings as of 1/25/16. 1. Paducah Tilghman (16-4) The Blue Tornadoes won the Superman Classic in Carbondale last week and showed some nice muscle in doing so. They will play Mayfield and at Marshall County this week. I don’t expect them to lose either game. Looking forward to when PT travels to Graves Co on Feb 2. 2. Murray (16-4) Murray won the Region 1 All “A”... Read More →

11th Region Rankings for the week of January 25th

By Wildcatfan25 - Apologies for the tardiness in posting. I've been having internet problems at home and had to do these at work. Please don't tell my boss. 1. Dunbar – Out of action last week but face Lafayette and Bryan Station this week in a couple of city rivalry games. 2. Scott County – Went 3-1 in hosting the Toyota Classic. Lost without Freshman stud Michael Moreno. Beat Franklin County Monday night by 23 and are off the rest of the week. 3. Henry Clay – Beat Tates Creek handily last week.
