14th Region Rankings 2-4-16

By All State Baseball - 1.Breathitt County (18-6): The Lady Cats got hammered hard down in the All “A” State tournament, losing 57-25 to Glasgow in the first round. The Lady Cats picked up two more wins after that hard loss defeating Estill County and Riverside Christian but the Lady Cats would find themselves back in the losers column, falling 69-62 to region foe, Perry County Central. By GoHardITP - Including Tuesday games of this week. 1) Bullitt East (17-4)- A surprising loss to Bardstown does not knock BE from the #1 spot and they rebounded with a large margin victory over JTown. They still have yet to be beaten by any 6th region team this year. Next two games are also against out of region teams and should be easy victories. By All State Baseball - 1.Mason County (18-3): Despite losing to #2 Campbell County, the Lady Royals stay at #1 this week. The Lady Royals had won 5 straight and 10 of their last 12 before heading into the game with Campbell County. Junior guard, Whitney O’Mara led Mason County with 11 points. The Cougars have won 11 of their last 12 games with 4 of those 11 wins coming against region opponents and two of them coming against top 5 team, Elliott County. Morgan County is still getting great production from star guard, Jordan Perry, averaging 29 points a game. This past week they did have a difficult game with district rival West Jessamine beating them 83-79. Trevor Faulkner led the way with 32 points in that contest and Malik Dow added a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Let's take a look at the rankings this week as we review last week's action. 1. Covington Catholic (15-6) In the Colonels only game this week, the escaped Holmes with a 57-49 win behind 14 points from Cole Vonhandorf. It is hard to win (3) games in a row at Roy Winchester gymnasium, but a lot of teams are making the case that they can.
