By coachlee - The end of the season draws near as only 2 weeks remain before tourney play begins. We learned several things so far, most impressive is that Doss, Fern Creek, and Butler all could very well be Top 10 teams in the State of KY. Any of these 3 could end up heading to Rupp in a month from now without surprising anybody if they do. The rankings this week shake out with the top 9 teams in solid clusters of three and within each cluster those three teams are very close to each other. Cluster 1 is Doss, Fern Creek and Butler. By Smallhoops - The calendar has flipped over to February, meaning district tournaments can’t be too far away. In fact, a mere two weeks are left in the regular season. With several district games having been played this week, the pairings for the district tournaments have come into focus. But we still have the regular season to complete. This week presents us with plenty of good games, none more interesting than the Ballard-Waggener match-up. Ballard and Waggener are about 3.5 miles from each other. Since Ballard opened in the early 1970’s, Ballard and Waggener have played each other 69 times,... Read More →

Covington Catholic Record Book - Recent Changes

By Colonels_Wear_Blue - Covington Catholic's record book has seen a few notable changes since head coach Scott Ruthsatz took over the school's basketball program in the 2011/12 season - most notably due to the presence of players Cole VonHandorf and Nick Ruthsatz. Not only are they the #1 and #2 scorers, respectively, in the school's 1,000 Point Club, but the two of them also combine for possession of nine of the Colonels Basketball Program's thirty-one total individual records. That should come as little surprise if you take into consideration the fact that Nick and Cole were both absolutely integral in leading... Read More →

By silo11 - BluegrassPreps.com 1st Region Boys Basketball Review Week 9 There are times when basketball is the focus of all attention, then there are times where basketball doesn’t seem to matter at all. This past week, basketball became the latter throughout Kentucky, but more so in Region 1. After the tragedy at MCHS, teams from all around Western Ky gathered to pray and show support for the Marshall Family. That even spilled over to the basketball court where rivalries were laid aside and student sections were filled with blue and orange to show their support. It was an reminder that sports... BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 1-29-18

By mcpapa - No major surprises in the 10th last week. Number 1 took care of business, number 2 fell to one of the state's powerhouses by a mere bucket; and just about everyone stayed where they were at the start of the week. 1. Clark County (19-3, 8-1 region). Don't look now, but after starting the season trying to find themselves, the Cardinals have won nine straight and are 16-1 since falling at home to Campbell County way back on December 12. The Cards forced 20 turnovers and blocked 9 shots to begin the week with a 36-point thrashing of Tates Creek; with Ryan Cooper, Will Philpot and Jordan... Read More →
