16th Region Week 10 Review: Busy Week Ahead

By Carson Palmer - Every team but one will play at least three games this week as teams get ready for the postseason. Elliott County and Rowan County have been 1-2 most of the season but the hottest team in the region is Boyd County. The Lions have reeled off seven straight wins in the past two weeks. Let's take a look at this week's rankings: 1. ELLIOTT COUNTY (17-3) The Lions remained unbeaten in 16th Region play with a district win over West Carter. Tanner Dickerson and Gage Evans have been consistent players to complement Korbin Spencer all season. Eighth grader Collin Porter has been steady off the... Read More →

1st Region Week 10 Review

By silo11 - Not a lot of movement this week in the standings because not a lot of big games were played. What we did learn this week is there is a clear confirmation of the separation between the top three teams and the rest of the region. However that doesn’t eliminate the possibility of upsets taking place as Marshall County has played everyone tough as has Murray. Lots of big district games this week that will affect the seeding going into the tournaments. Should be an exciting week of Region 1 basketball. Here is this weeks rankings: 1. McCracken County – Coach Burlin Brower BGP #9... Read More →

7th Region Week 10 Review: Let's Not Crown Trinity Quite Yet

By Smallhoops - The Male Bulldogs are the Seventh Region team of the week. The Bulldogs got my attention when they beat Collins early in the week by a 69-46 margin and then, in a classic Seventh Region basketball game, took down the Trinity Shamrocks 77-74 in 3 overtimes. Certainly, Male seems to be playing its best basketball as the post-season approaches. So does Ballard. After winning two games on the same night earlier in the week, Ballard beat Madison Central and Isaiah Cozart 80-69 on Friday night. Waggener also keeps winning, and had a nice win over Seneca this week. Central has only lost 4... Read More →

11th Region Week 10 Review

By mooremiller31 - A big matchup between the top 2 teams in the region headlined the past week in the 11th Region. Some other top tier teams made statements and District tournament seeds are starting to round into form. At this point its starting to seem like everyone is playing for 2nd Place. Lets get into it! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Scott County (25-1) - The Cardinals continue to roll through not only the 11th Region but the entire state of Kentucky. Facing possibly their toughest in state test in a month the Cardinals did not disappoint as they handled Henry Clay by 21 points. The game was really never in... Read More →

5th Region Week 10 Review: Bulldogs Dominate 4th Region Favorite

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (25-0): The Bulldogs historic season continues as they won both games again this week. They beat district foe Elizabethtown 76-74 on the road in a dandy, and beat Bowling Green 86-59 at home. Bulldogs survived another scare as the Etown game came down to the wire but like every time this season they found a way. They than blew out 4th region favorite Bowling Green which was a nice statement win. Looking at the schedule there is a great shot they will be 30-0 going into postseason play. In the win over Elizabethtown freshman Devon Rogers led them with 18 points. 2. Central... Read More →

12th Region Week 10 Review: The Gap is Closing

By TDC - Week 10 reminded us of just how wide open the 12th Region is. While Danville and Wayne County continue to maintain a consistent hold on the top two spots, teams from #3 to #12 have defeated teams ahead of them in the rankings and most have shown the potential to beat either one of the top two on any given night. The gap between the top two teams and the next ten teams below them seems to be closing. Despite it being a weekly statement, it bears repeating: the 45th District Tournament is going to be epic. It is also going to end two good team’s seasons early. Top 12 teams who are … ... Read More →

14th Region Week 10 Review: 1-5 Stays The Same But Some Changes 6-16.

By All State Baseball - It's the start of February, which means that post season play/district tournaments are about two weeks away. This means we only have about a month or so left of high school basketball for the 2018/19 season. We had lots of excitement this week throughout the state and 14th region but the top 10 remained the same. 1) Knott County Central (18-7): 1/30 79-61 W at June Buchanan, 2/1 51-47 W at #3 Perry County Central, 2/2 102-80 W at #8 Wolfe County. This week: 2/4 (Mon) vs. #14 June Buchanan, 2/7 (Thurs) vs. George Rogers Clark, 2/9 (Sat) vs. Western Hills. Previous Rank: #1 The... Read More →

4th Region Week 10 Review

By DragonFire - 1) Bowling Green (19-4) - 1/29 47-43 W #10 South Warren, 2/1 59-86 L at John Hardin Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 2/4 at #9 Barren County, 2/5 vs. Owensboro, 2/8 at #12 Warren East Bowling Green had a phenomenal week in Week 9 despite suffering through some personnel turmoil. This week.... they'd likely just as soon forget other than trying to take some lessons. First was a district game against South Warren that they had to have. The Spartans controlled the pace and simply would not go away. BG led by 12 at one point, but South ran them all the way down at 42 all before the Purples... Read More →

8th Region Week 9 Review - A New Number One

By ColonelMike - 8th Region Week 9 Review – A New Number One There was a bit of upheaval in the 8th region this past week, as game results generated some movement in the rankings. Seven teams moved from their spots in last week’s rankings. A quick scan of the 8th region this week: 1 – Simon Kenton (16-4, 6-0 vs 8th region foes, won five straight) Last week: #2 – The new number one in the rankings is the hottest team in the region, riding a five-game winning streak as we move into the new week. SK has yet to lose to an 8th region team, and they have some significant wins against 8th Region... Read More →

1st Region Week 9 Review

By silo11 - #1 versus #2 did not disappoint this week in their second game in two weeks, while the lower part of the region beat up on each other. Calloway almost pulled a big upset going into double overtime with Graves, and Mayfield represented region 1 in the All A State Tournament. Here is this weeks rankings: 1. McCracken County – Coach Burlin Brower BGP #11 2018-19 record: 19-3 Week’s Record: 3-0 The Mustangs had an early easy week leading up to and #1 and #2 ranked teams in the region. They disposed of Carlisle County and St Mary. Two weeks ago Graves County defeated McCracken 67-56.... Read More →

10th Region Week 9 Review - Lots of Movement After the Top 2

By mcpapa - There are only three weeks left in the regular season, and other than our top two squads, nothing seems to have settled into any kind of pattern. Last week was, however, a week that saw a couple of the 10th's smaller schools shine on different fronts. 1. Campbell County (15-4, 6-0 region, 2-0 37th District). The much anticipated game against Covington Catholic didn't take place, so the Camels had to settle for thumping St. Henry and Paris on consecutive days. Reid Jolly and Drew Wilson scored 23 and 19 as the squad made nearly 70% of their field goals against the Crusaders; and Jolly... Read More →

14th Region Week 9 Review: Everything Stays The Same

By All State Baseball - Mother nature finally showed up and does what she always does, cancelling games. Because of that, the games that got played wouldn't make any difference in the rankings this week. 1) Knott County Central (15-7): The Patriots had a good week but a not so good week if that makes any sense? The Patriots picked up two wins and extended their win streak to 10 straight games. Those wins came by defeating Letcher County Central 60-43 and Middlesboro 57-45 in the all a state tournament. The Patriots had took an earlier season defeat at Middlesboro, losing 45-40. The Patriots loss last week came in... Read More →

6th Region Week 9 Review

By SportsLife - 1. Butler (16-7): The Bears battled in a pair of overtime games, defeating DuPont Manual prior to falling to Pleasure Ridge Park. Maurice Tolley and Willard Minter are combining to average over 25 points per game for Butler, which is shooting 33 percent from 3-point range. 2. Bullitt Central (14-8): The Cougars bounced back to beat rival Bullitt East in overtime following a loss to North Bullitt. Jacob Mann is averaging 15 points per game for the Bullitt Central boys' basketball team. 3. Jeffersontown (13-8): The Chargers absorbed a three-point loss to Ballard. The trio of Blake Butler... 5th Region Week 9 Review: Bruins Show They Are A Contender

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (23-0): The Bulldogs did what they did all year this week by continuing to do nothing but win as they won both games this week. They beat district opponent Fort Knox 90-25 on the road and beat Scott 72-69 at home. This was the second game against Scott and like the first one Bulldogs was down a lot of the game, but this squad continues to find a way to win. John Hardin has won so many close games which shows they know how to win. In the blowout win over Fort Knox Aaron Scott led the team with 17 points. 2. Central Hardin (14-6): The Bruins had a great week winning both games... Read More →
