By SHS Future - 12th Region Rankings for 2/8/16 1) Mercer County (24-1) - "And down goes Frazier!” The Titans suffer their first loss of the year against Lafayette 59-77. In the loss, Mercer struggled shooting averaging only 23% from 3 point range. Earlier in the week the Titans beat Pulaski County 69-58. In that game they shot 58% from behind the arch. By The Scribe - Christian County remains the number one team in the Second Region with convincing wins over University Heights, Trigg County and Henderson County in consecutive days last week. Sophomore Detorrion Ware kept his hot hand for the Colonels, knocking down 18-of-33 from behind the 3-point arc in those three wins. Hopkinsville held off Trigg County 63-55 Saturday, two days after Trigg lost to Christian County 79-57. They finish district play against Lexington Catholic on Tuesday before playing Henry Clay Thursday and travelling to Taylor County on Saturday. 2. By All State Baseball - 1.Morgan County (19-6): The Cougars had their 9 game win streak snapped when they fell to Owen County in the second round of the KHSAA State “A” Classic Tournament in Frankfort. Since the loss, the Cougars have went 3-2 with the other loss coming to 15th region’s, Magoffin County. Jordan Perry continues to led the way for Morgan County, averaging right at 28 points a game. But the top spot isn’t something new for the South Laurel Cardinals, it’s a place they’ve become accustomed to during the past month and a half. The Cardinals are riding a four-game win streak with impressive wins over West Jessamine, Russell County and former No. 1 North Laurel. Such is life in the 2015-16 10th Region. #1 - Campbell County (14-11) Three more wins last week and now the Camels have won 6 straight. On Tuesday night, Matt Wilson scored 20 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a 55-39 victory at Harrison County. The Camels defense locked down the Breds, holding the hosts to 27.6% FG shooting. It seems as if Harlan is back on track after dropping consecutive games about a month ago. 2. North Laurel (17-6, 11-1) — The Lady Jaguars are rolling along with Kayla Bruner, who is making a late-season charge for 13th Region Player of the Year honors. Their latest victims were Knott Central (73-57), Hazard (84-78 OT), Casey County (83-71). The Commodores were expected to travel to Casey County within the next week but that game has been canceled.
