50 Greatest Programs in Kentucky History: #15-8

By gchs_uk9 - Day three of our list of the 50 greatest high school football programs in Kentucky history looks at #15-8 . As was mentioned in each of the previous threads, this is based on a formula that awards teams a certain amount of points for playoff wins, district championships, appearances in state championship games, and state titles. These rankings begin with the 1959 season since that was the first year the KHSAA sponsored a playoff. In case of ties, the team with the most state championships gets the better ranking. If that number is the same, then I moved to playoff wins. Also, regarding... Read More →

2015/16 Girls 6th Region Rankings Week 1

By Jesse James - There is not much change to the preseason rankings for the 6th region this week as teams kicked off their seasons. In the top four, Bullitt East moved up a spot sliding Mercy back one after Mercy went 1-2 against a tough opening week schedule. Valley climbed several spots after beating Moore and a close defeat at the hands of Bullitt Central. Moore dropped a few spots after starting off 0-3 and seemingly struggling to put points on the board. When the new coach gets his system in place, the Lady Mustangs could easily climb back up the ladder. Most everyone else stayed close to where they... Read More →

3rd Region Rankings (Week1)

By ApolloFan98 - With graduation and the mass exodus of top players from the 3rd in the offseason, early season rankings should be taken with a grain of salt. We now have one week of action under our belt. Here is how they stack up after 1 week of action... 1.Meade County(3-0, SAME) - The Waves have opened the season by proving they belong as preseason favorites to win the region. They collected big region wins over Ohio County & Owensboro Catholic, as well as an out of area win vs Marion County. Meade returned 4 of 5 starters from their region runner up team and have added key transfer James Baker to the... Read More →

6th Region Rankings (Week 1)

By GoHardITP - 6th Region Rankings (12/7/15) 1) Bullitt East (3-0)- A very tough opener against Warren Central was a close game that will end up being a character builder for this team. Down very late in the game with their backs against the wall this veteran team responded with a furious rally that defines how tough they really are. The next two games against Collins and Elliott County were not as difficult as they continue to be the clear favorite in the region as they enter Week #2. 2) Fern Creek (4-0)- We learned this team has depth and their rotation goes well beyond 10 players. Good thing... Read More →

50 Greatest Programs in Kentucky History: #50-26

By gchs_uk9 - Over the last few years I've devised a formula for ranking high school football programs historically. A couple years ago there was a thread on the best programs to never win a title and this will piggy-back off of that thread. In a nutshell, my formula awards teams a certain amount of points for playoff wins, district championships, appearances in state championship games, and state titles. The formula certainly isn't perfect and you may disagree with the rankings. That's fine! These rankings begin with the 1959 season since that was the first year the KHSAA sponsored a playoff. If... The little blonde headed kid in the back of the church

By ChiefSmoke - When Stephanie and I were married back on May 30, 1992, we had a videographer record the event, including video facing the guests sitting in the sanctuary. In the back, you can see this little blonde headed boy, pretty restless, standing up in his dad's lap, I guess trying to see.... or, trying to leave the wedding! About 7 years later, that same little boy and his dad drove to Maysville. That little boy, his dad, Dustin Grutza, Ty Sargent & myself, all went to this quarterback camp in southern Ohio. None of these guys were in HS yet. As it turned out, this little boy, Ty, & Dustin all... Read More →

Cooper (1-0) Coach Sully's team kicked off the season with a convincing 67-54 home win over previous pre season #1, Covington Catholic. Inside the Second Region (Dec. 7)

By The Scribe - There weren’t many surprises in the first week of Second Region basketball, except maybe for some of the margins of victory. Hopkinsville and Christian County put up impressive numbers in their opening wins, while Trigg County, Madisonville, and University Heights were perfect in the first week as well. Second Region Rankings 1. Hopkinsville (2-1) – The Tigers lost to one of the top teams in Alabama at the Marshall County Hoopfest. Despite a poor shooting day, the Tigers only lost by six. They are still a smidge ahead of Christian County. 2. Christian County (2-0) –... Read More →

However, now it's time for some basketball and the first weekly preview of the 16th region! This week there was some movement but nothing major. By Randy Parker - We're finished with a week's worth of games, and there has been ample excitement throughout the 10th Region. As we enter Week 2, no changes have been made to our Regional Rankings, although some slight movement could be justified. #1 - Campbell County (2-0) The Camels won the Huck Turner Tip-Off Classic, which began with a Friday night win over host Harrison County, 61-53. Trailing 50-49, Campbell closed the game on a 13-4 run, with Matt Wilson scoring 6 of those points and junior Cole Hegyi scoring 5. Region 1 Week 1 Rankings

By silo11 - Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. There are two teams that are still above everyone else, but Graves County has been playing very well as of late and can make it a three way if they can keep it up. Here are the rankings as of 12/7/15. 1. Paducah Tilghman (1-0) The Blue Tornados opened the season with a dominating performance over Region 1 contender Carlisle. They were very impressive as this game was supposed to be much closer. 2. Murray (3-0) Murray has looked very good in their first 3 games. Two of those... Read More →

13th Region Girls Rankings 12-7-2015

By Les - 1. Harlan - The Lady Green Dragons showed why they were preseason No. 1 by upending No. 2 North Laurel on the road, 46-43. Harlan managed to escape by scoring four unanswered points in the final 40 seconds. Emma Bianchi and Jordan Brock each scored 15 apiece in the win. 2. North Laurel - The Lady Jaguars showed they belonged as one of the top teams in the 13th Region by almost knocking off No. 1 Harlan at home. North Laurel led with less than a minute left, but couldn't hold on. The Lady Jaguars possess a lot of weapons in leading scorer Kayla Bruner, Hannah Lawson and Madison Sheppard,... Read More →
