KHSAA Sanctions Graves County Boys' Basketball for Bylaw 16 Violations

By theguru - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 19, 2016 The KHSAA has handed down sanctions to Graves County High School resulting from improper open gym activities involving its boys’ basketball program during the 2014-15 academic year. Region 1 Rankings (1/18/16 Week 7)

By silo11 - Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. Hickman County was the biggest mover this week moving up 3 spots. Here are the rankings as of 1/18/16. 1. Paducah Tilghman (13-4) The Blue Tornadoes had no problems at all with Marshall County or McCracken County. They are still on the outside looking in at the top 20 in the BGP although they have broke through the top 20 in other polls in the state. By Walter - It took almost two months, but we finally have a unanimous #1 in the 9th region. Let's take a look at this week's rankings and review the action from last week. 1. Holy Cross (14-4) In the biggest game of the year for the Indians, Tyler Bezold turned in a 29 point, 6 rebound performance as Holy Cross knocked off Covington Catholic 73-68 to secure the #1 seed in the 35th district and improve their 9th region record to 9-0. By 15th Region - Overview: Week 7 saw completion of the All-A Tournament, many teams get into district and regional play, and the cream continue to rise to the top in the 15th Region. Lawrence County is playing well after a tough December schedule, Johnson Central remained undefeated in 2016, and Magoffin County continues to roll. 6th Region Rankings (Week 7) 1/18/2016

By GoHardITP - The 6th & 7th Region top tier teams all met in the LIT last week and candidly the 7th can lay claim as the tougher region based on the results. Only (3) 6th Region teams made the quarterfinals, Doss, Fern Creek, & Bullitt East. By All State Baseball - 1.Rowan County (10-5): Since starting the season 1-3, The Vikings have went 9-2 and are currently on a 7 game win streak heading into this week. Lady Wildcats are on a 5 game win streak with wins over Prestonsbrug, Sheldon Clark, Betsy Layne and East Ridge (twice). All of those wins are against region opponents. By SHS Future - 12th Region Rankings 1/18/16 1) Mercer County (19-0) - Many consider the Titans as the number one team in the state and this week they continue to add fuel to that fire. They won three road games last week continuing their unbeaten streak with wins over Bourbon county 79-47, Wayne County 76-66, and Anderson County 76-64. The win over Wayne Co. was a really nice win since it shows they could go into a hostile environment against a good team and still come away with the victory. Meade got a big game from Josh Durbin(23/12) in a district win vs Hanock on Tuesday. They came back on Friday with a nice 68-54 win over E-Town. By The Scribe - While most people south of Robards figured Henderson County was in for a long rebuilding season, those in the know knew the Colonels would be in the mix of things by the time the postseason rolled around. With a win over Madisonville and a close loss to Hopkinsville, the Colonels make the biggest jump in this week’s region poll. They defeated previously #1 North Hardin on the road, then picked up a win over a very good South Laurel team. Their next contest will be against Hart Co. on Tuesday. 2. North Hardin (16-5)- North Hardin falls to #2 as they went 1-1 last week. They defeated Etown but took a tough loss to Taylor Co. at home allowing Taylor to retake their #1 ranking in the region. By Randy Parker - Inclement weather negatively influenced a handful of games last week, but the Class "A" Tournament was able to be played, and the outcome caused a slight shift in our rankings. #1 - Montgomery County (13-6) Matt Daniel's Indians maintain the top spot after a 1-1 finish last week. Montgomery outscored George Rogers Clark 21-10 in the 4th quarter to pull away for a 64-52 Friday night home win. Art Walker led 4 Indians in double figures with 22 points.
