7th Region Rankings (Updated as of morning of 12/22)

By ball_coach_4 - This is through December 21. I was going to wait until the completion of the KOB, but with the results so far, nothing much will change a team’s ranking much. This week there wasn’t a much of a shift hardly at all in the rankings. Completely different than what I thought would happen. Last week’s ranking in parentheses (). Next Rankings for 7th region will come New Year’s Eve at the completion of the Post-Christmas Tournaments. 1. Trinity (8-0) (1) Still executing at a high rate and playing beautifully as a team. Notched huge wins against Owen Co. and Dunbar in the first two... Read More →

Inside the 15th Region (12-21-15)

By 15th Region - Overview: Week 3 is in the books and there are no major changes in our top 3. With Christmas tournaments on the horizon and football players rounding into basketball form, we are starting to see what should shape up for a tremendous post season tournament. Let’s look at how the region pans out after 3 weeks of play. 1. Lawrence County (7-0) – The Bulldogs are still at the top after winning the Hi-Tech signs and graphics tournament in Prestonsburg. LC defeated June Buchanan for the second time this year during the week and put away a much improved Magoffin County squad in the... Read More →

3rd Region Rankings (12/21/15)

There is not much difference separating the #2 and number 11 or 12 ranked teams... 1.Meade Co(9-0 SAME) - The Waves got big region wins over Breck and Hancock last week. The Tigers were a good early season test for Meade but they got the 7-63 win on the road. Stewart Currie... Read More →

Don't Let Belfry Establish the Fullback

By Watusi - In today's spread 'em out and toss it around football culture, sometimes even the idea of a fullback seems odd. To think that the key to stopping a team on offense could be to stop the fullback seems almost foreign. But when it comes to Belfry, that is where you had better start. Belfry's success on offense often can be judged by watching the fullback and looking at his stats. Even if the FB isn't getting many yards, he is doing his job if he makes the defense collapse on him, and sometimes that can be an overlooked nuance of Belfry's game. Now, if the fullback is getting 12-15... Read More →

Comparing Well Known Small Schools With College Programs

By ATLCat - Let's do the same thing with our smaller 1A and 2A programs: Mayfield= UCLA Basketball (60's and 70's) Have to throw a curve ball because frankly speaking no college football run of dominance matches what the Cardinals have done over the past 10 years. Mayfield is simply dominant in every form or fashion right now. Their loss to Hazard in the 2011 Finals compares to UCLA losing in 1974, the seemingly only blemish in an otherwise historic run. Danville= Texas Everyone knows their name and everyone respects it and remembers fondly of specific teams and players who made them elite. With... Read More →

10th Region Rankings & Weekly Review (12-21-15)

By Randy Parker - There is no change this week with teams 1 and 2, but the rest of the Top 10 squads all have a new spot as we start Week #4. As we've touched on before, this kind of movement will likely become the norm each week. #1 - Paris (5-1) Terence Brooks' club played its first game as the #1 team in the 10th Region on Tuesday night, and the Hounds were impressive in dominating host Robertson County 109-57. Seven Paris players registered double figures, led by Wan Dumphord's 19 and Marcus Ashford's 15. On Friday night the Greyhounds held off visiting Frankfort 68-64. Point guard James... Read More →
