By 15th Region - Overview: The District tournaments are quickly approaching and Lawrence County is still the team everyone is shooting for in the 15th Region. Shelby Valley, Magoffin County and Johnson Central are the front runners to pull the upset, but it would take an outstanding performance. Let’s see how the rankings pan out after nine weeks of action. 1. Lawrence County (19-4) – The Bulldogs continue to roll, going 2-1 in Week 9 with their only loss coming to an... Read More →

Region 7 Rankings (2/1/16)

By ball_coach_4 - We have movement again at the top of the rankings, and I expect this type of shift to happen pretty much every week for the rest of the season. There’s a log jam at 2-5, and this was the toughest week to gauge by far in regards to last week’s results. Last week’s rankings are in parentheses (): 1. Male (18-3) (3) The Bulldogs continue their great team play and go 4-0 since the last rankings. They blew out Madison Southern and Southern; and then had tough battles (but wins) with Moore, and Newport at the King of the Bluegrass Showcase. This week the Bulldogs have a solid Collins team,... 8th Region Rankings and Recap 2/1/16

By 8th Region Warrior - The 8th region gets more congested as the year goes on with potential teams that could win this region. It is hard to win (3) games in a row at Roy Winchester gymnasium, but a lot of teams are making the case that they can. Only 3 weeks in the regular season and jockeying for position in some of the districts is still taking place. 1. Owen County-Represented the 8th region well at the All A State tournament. Coach Duvall and his Rebels showed a lot of class all week. Keeping them at the #1 spot this week, but teams are closing the gap on the Rebels. I think we saw some fatigue out... Read More →

3rd Region Rankings and Notebook (2/1/16)

By ApolloFan98 - After seeing most all of the 3rd region teams multiple times, I am going to throw records out the window and rank these teams off the old fashioned eye ball test. It’s nearly impossible to judge most of these teams as they continue to beat each other and follow good wins with bad losses. Here is how they stack up as we head into the last month of the season... 1.Owensboro Catholic(14-6 UP 3) – After this week, the Aces have leap frogged into the #1 spot. They blew out good teams in Hopkinsville(85-65) & Breck County(68-50) and turned a lot of heads in the process. Tim Riley has his... Read More →

10th Region Rankings & Weekly Review (1-31-16)

By Randy Parker - A week of good weather allowed for a full slate of games last week, and there were several closely contested battles. These rankings have not significantly changed, but there has been a bit of movement. #1 - Montgomery County (15-8) The Indians started last week with a 62-60 buzzer-beating loss at Scott on Tuesday night. Playing without leading scorer and rebounder Jerryd Jones, Montgomery stayed with the host Eagles the entire way, but could not escape with a victory. Caswell Fuller scored 17 points and Cody Parsley had 15 in the loss. Matt Daniel's team regrouped to get a pair... Read More →

13th Region Rankings Jan. 31 - Feb. 6

By Les - 1. North Laurel (19-2 overall, 8-2 against 13th Region competition) — The Jaguars are playing some pretty darn good basketball as of late. North Laurel’s 61-57 win over No. 3 Clay County this past week thwarted them into the region’s top spot. The play of Peyton Broughton, Brian Gray, Kyle Jeffers, Adam Sizemore, Bryson Asher and Jaret Lipps has been key of late. Broughton scored 28 in North Laurel’s win against Lee County while Jeffers and Gray came up big against Clay County. Sizemore continues to run the point guard position as good as any one in the region while Asher is improving, and... Read More →
