By Les - 1. South Laurel (20-5 overall, 10-2 vs. 13th Region competition) — The Cardinals, like many other teams in the 13th Region, haven’t gotten many games in due to Mother Nature, but they did manage to get past Whitley County, 61-42 on Saturday, and are now back in the driver’s seat for the 50th District Tournament’s top seed. A win over defending 13th Region champion Williamsburg on Wednesday (they’ve already defeated the Yellow Jackets on the road earlier this season, 68-20) will lock up the top seed. Two of the big reasons why South Laurel has been playing so well is defensive play, and... Read More →

11th Region Rankings for the week of February 15th

By Wildcatfan25 - 1. Scott County – The Cardinals move up to #1 after 2 losses by former #1 Dunbar. I really wanted to move Henry Clay up to #1 but you can’t justify them being ahead of Scott after losing to Scott County not once, but twice this season. They go to Eastern on Tuesday before hosting Dunbar on Thursday to end their regular season. 2a. Henry Clay – There may not be a hotter team in the Commonwealth right now than these Blue Devils. They beat Dunbar in OT and walloped North Hardin on Saturday. They have won 7 of their last 8 and are peaking as we get ready for postseason play. They go to... Read More →

2nd Region Update 2/13

By WKY - It has been a wild February so far. We have a new #1 and the rankings have been shuffled from top to bottom. The region tournament looks more wide open than I can ever remember. It should be a very exciting month ahead. #1 Henderson County (12-8, 4-2) UP 2 The Lady Colonels reclaimed the #1 spot after narrowly defeating former #1 Madisonville-North Hopkins. The Lady Colonels lead all but about 1 minute of the game and lead by as much as 11 early in the game. The Lady Maroons didn't seem to have an answer for Alisha Owens inside. Despite being without point guard Samantha Carter, whom they... Read More →

By GoHardITP - Including Tuesday games of this week which is a pattern that has this report a day or two later than most region's update. 1) Bullitt East (20-4)- A 7 point win over Bryan Station and then comfortable double digit victories over CAL plus a 20 point win over district foe JTown. BE hitting stride and the top spot is theirs as it has been all season. Looking ahead they play rival North Bullitt which lost to the same JTown team that BE beat by 20. I do not expect any losses here on out until post season and then they will enter district/regional as the favorite to advance to Rupp. Sharpe... Read More →

Inside the 15th Region (2-8-16)

By 15th Region - Overview: After 10 weeks of play 3 teams have rose to the top in the 15th Region. Lawrence County is still the favorite, but Magoffin and Johnson Central have proven they have what it takes to make it to Rupp Arena and the sweet sixteen. South Floyd and Pikeville seem to be getting hot at the right time and could make a run. Shelby Valley has two great scorers and could pose problems in the tournament. Belfry and Pike Central could play spoilers as well as both are better than their records indicate. Let’s see how the rankings pan out of: 1. Lawrence County (21-4) – The Bulldogs went... Read More →
