By mooremiller31 - One of the most anticipated weeks in the 11th region was sadly cut short this past week due to weather!! Many of us in the area were looking forward to an impressive slate of games being played this past week but mother nature had other plans!! Some big time district matchups did take place and other good games around the region. So lets get to it!! Player of the Week - Eric Powell - Lafayette Eric Powell from Lafayette is our player of the week. This past week Eric helped lead the Generals to an impressive win over 43rd District opponent Lexington Catholic. He scored 21 points in the... Read More → 16th Region Week 7 in Review

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball in Review Winter weather in the 16th Region disrupted the All A tournament and a number of regular season matchups, but still left plenty of time for a number of entertaining games. Following the theme of the year, every game played beyond the top 3 teams was a toss-up, with no clear leader emerging outside Boyd County and Ashland, with Morgan proving very consistent with it’s schedule. Outside that the transient property of wins can be used to make any team clearly superior or inferior depending on the path taken. 1. Ashland (15-1) – Ashland won... By All State Baseball - 1. Knott County Central (12-3): The Patriots added two more wins to their record this past week defeating both June Buchanan 82-44 and Breathitt County 71-58 this past week. Knott Central has now won 4 straight and 5 of their last 7 games. The Patriots, however, will have a tough test this week when they play crosstown rival, Cordia twice on back to back nights. Monday night and Tuesday night. The Patriots will head to GRC Saturday to face Montgomery County in a tournament. 2. Perry County Central (10-5): The Commodores also put up two wins this past week as well. The Commodores got a good... Read More →

Preview of the All A Seventh Region tournament

By Smallhoops - With the LIT suffering a disappointing early termination, I have turned my attention to the ALL A Seventh Region tournament being played this week at Louisville Collegiate. The makeup of the regions are a little different for the All A than for the KHSAA post-season tournament; while Whitefield Academy is in the Sixth Region for KHSAA alignment, it plays in the Seventh Region in the All A tournament. Portland Christian and Shawnee are in the Seventh Region for KHSAA purposes, but play in the Sixth Region in the All A tournament. In fact, Portland Christian and Shawnee play each other in... By DragonFire - Fourth Region Rankings 1) Warren Central (15-2) - 1/9 57-47 W Hopkinsville, 1/11 66-56 W at #3 Bowling Green Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 1/16 vs. #7 South Warren, 1/19 at #11 Greenwood The Dragons faced a pair of 4th quarter challenges, and while it wasn't pretty in either case, they gutted out two wins to push their win streak to seven. The two games were eerily similar in their breakdown. Central held identical 48-32 leads in the third quarter before each opponent turned on the pressure, forcing miscues and climbing back into the game. The only difference is that Bowling Green... By mooremiller31 - A HUGE week of games on the docket this week in the 11th Region. A lot of district matchups that will help determine seeds and set the tone for the stretch run. The top teams in the region continue to distance themselves from the pack. Team of the Week -Lexington Catholic The Knights get this weeks team of the week. Lexington Catholic finished the week 2-0 with wins over LCA and St. Henry but the win over LCA really stands out. In the always tough 43rd District the Knights have established themselves as the team to beat by starting the season 2-0 in District with another big one looming... By ColonelMike - It's been just a short few days since my last update, so I'll keep this relatively short....but a lot happened over the past few days, particularly last Friday night when we had a lot of key games with significant results. At the bottom, I've included a short preview of the 8th Region All-A, which starts Tuesday at Owen County HS. Overall observation: The region has some clear favorites, but the gaps between the teams have narrowed. We are seeing some teams that are red-hot and others with high upside that are improving dramatically and rapidly. There are a number of teams that are... By mcpapa - Week five is in the books. School is back in session - unless you're covered with half an inch of ice. All-A tournaments have started. And the top spots in the 10th region remain unchanged. 1. Campbell County (14-2, 7-0 region). The Camels dispatched a pair of region foes last week, short-handed both times. First was a 77-68 win over Mason County at The Fieldhouse that saw Coach Russell's squad outscore the Royals by 15 points over the last six and a half minutes of the game. With Reid Jolly still out, Tanner Clos poured in 29, and was backed up by Joel Day's 12. Drew Wilson added... Read More →

By 15th Region - Overview: Pikeville reaffirmed its dominance in the region, Floyd Central flexed some muscle on a local 58th district opponent, and status quo was maintained in the rankings after six weeks of play. As we move closer to the All-A tournament and more and more teams play each other in region, district seeding is beginning to manifest what many predicted in the preseason. Check out this week’s rankings below. Rankings: 1. Pikeville (10-3) – Pikeville stands only as the only team in the 15th without a loss to an in-region opponent. In week six the Panthers went 3-0 with easy wins over East... Read More → 12th Region Rankings 1/8/18

16th Region Week 6 in Review

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball Week 6 Week 6 in the 16th Region may have done little more than further solidified Ashland’s standing as the region’s top team. In a rematch of the previously ranked top two teams, Ashland won convincingly from horn to horn. In a continuation of the first five weeks of the season the results of the games were predictably unpredictable. Close games from earlier in the season morphed into blowouts and complete reversals in the win column. Several regional teams also participated in the Marvin Meredith Classic this weekend, providing a good retreat on a miserably... Read More →'s Seventh Region update and rankings - 1/8/18

By Smallhoops - This week brings one of my favorite events of the year, the Louisville Invitational Tournament. I first attended the LIT in 1978, when Apollo beat Shelby County and Charles Hurt in the championship game. This week’s tournament, in which Trinity is the top seed, should be another great tournament. Only five of the 16 teams in the LIT field are from the Seventh Region. In the field in addition to Trinity are Ballard (the no. 4 seed), Waggener (6 seed), Male (9 seed), and St. X (12 seed). Each of them plays a team from the Sixth Region, so it will be interesting to see how those Sixth... Read More → 3rd Region Rankings 1/8/18

By ApolloFan98 - 1.Owensboro Red Devils (13-4) – SAME – The Devils returned home from the holiday’s and went 3-0. They knocked off a good Castle Indiana team 79-62 on Tuesday. On Friday, OHS dominated Owensboro Catholic, 64-43. Cory Gardner led all scorers with 21, while Lance Lewis scored 16. Saturday, the Devils kept the blowout trend alive with a 81-47 win over Taylor County. Owensboro put 5 scorers in double figures, led by Deonte Douglas’s 14. Through the first week of January, the gap between OHS and everyone else feels like it is getting wider. Not only are the winning, they are winning... Read More →
