Louisville Power Rankings October 25

By Bert - 1. Trinity (10-0) – Trinity hits Ballard pretty hard last week, 49-0. This week is a rematch against Seneca which will probably be very similar to the last time they met up. 2. St. Xavier (8-1) – St. X continues to roll beating Bulter 37-0. This week's game versus always powerful Cincy X will be very difficult for the Tigers. The game is in Louisville so that will give the Tigers a slight edge. 3. Male (8-2) – Male brought home the whiskey barrel beating Manual 27-20. This week H should be favored heavily over Connor. 4. Pleasure Ridge Park (6-3) – Tough loss for the Panthers... Read More →

Class 4A Notebook (10/25): So You Think You Know Who's Winning 4A?

By DragonFire - THAT JUST HAPPENED. That was pretty much my reaction upon seeing that Johnson Central had fallen to Ashland on the road 21-18. For the Golden Eagles it was the first time all year they’d been held below 31 points, and that came in the season opener. They hadn’t scored less than 40 since. Ashland pulled off the feat on the defensive side of the ball with some clutch turnovers in the fourth quarter, recovering two fumbles and the game ending interception on fourth down after the Golden Eagles had driven deep into Tomcat territory but stalled. The second fumble was probably the biggest,... Read More →

By theguru - - Questions and Answers with Ryle's Jake Chisholm Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last few days you already know Ryle's Jake Chisholm had one of the all time greatest games for a Kentucky High School Running Back. Chisholm gained nearly 450 yards and scored 6 Touchdowns to lead the Ryle Raiders over previously undefeated Simon Kenton 56 to 38. Over the course of this season I have been fortunate to become acquainted with Jake because we both workout at the Florence location of Crunch Fitness. BluegrassPreps Football Rankings (10/23)

By Ram - Class 1A Paintsville is officially the undisputed regular season Champion of the Eastern Semi-State. The Tigers took care of Raceland in convincing fashion and now own victories over all four teams in the East that are currently ranked. The Tigers now turn their focus on a ranked 3A Fleming County to wrap up their regular season. Kentucky Country Day got all they could handle from Frankfort, yet the Bearcats prevailed. They test their team speed against the ultra-athletic Waggener Wildcats. Though the regular season is ending we still have two more treats just in time for Halloween.... Read More →

Class 2A Notebook 9/26- The Superlatives

By ATLCat - It is common place at many High Schools to award "Senior Superlatives" to the departing Seniors at the end of their tenure as a way to close the book. As an exciting regular season draws to an end in quiet possibly the best pound for pound class this year in Kentucky, it only seems fitting to adopt this policy and hand out some Superlatives to recognize specific teams, individuals, and moments that brought us to where we are. Without further ado, here are your 2017 Class 2A Superlatives: "Most Improved"- Todd County Central Rebels This one was easy. The Rebels made history and kept... Read More →

After this week is when the real season starts and it's win or go home. But before that, the 1A Game of the Week features two top ten dark horses, Paris and Ludlow, who hope they can surprise some teams in the playoffs. These two teams come with an impressive 8-1 record so one of these two teams is going to be 8-2 before the playoff start. 3A Notebook: Rebels Have Look of Championship Squad

By gchs_uk9 - Boyle County Bottles Robinson, Stakes Claim as Best Team in Class Boyle County entered Friday's game with #9 Western Hills having won six straight, including district victories over Garrard County and Lexington Catholic. It would take a win over the Wolverines and talented running back Wandale Robinson to assure the Rebels a sixteenth district championship but first since 2013. Boyle's defense, which was allowing 88 yards per game on the ground, would be put to the test against Robinson, who averages 243 yards per game and is among the top recruits in the commonwealth. How did they... Read More →
