By All State Baseball - 1.Knott County Central (8-3): The Patriots remain at 1 this week despite dropping 2 straight games in the Farmers National Bank Classic @ Mercer County. The losses came to Muhlenberg County 75-71 and Louisville Eastern 76-46. The Patriots loss to Louisville Eastern is their 2nd big loss on the season, in front of the 82-59 defeat at the hands of Scott County. 2.Perry County Central (6-3): The Commodores took a 3 game win streak into the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee for the annual Smokey Mountain Classic @ Gatlinburg TN. No 6th region team remains undefeated, but Fern Creek still remains on top after an impressive showing at the KOB. Valley moves up to the #2 ranking after continuing their winning ways. 1) Fern Creek (9-1)- The Tigers were the only team in the 6th yet to lose when the week started, but the Tigers went 4-1 with their lone loss to Trinity who avenged losing to Fern Creek a week earlier. By All State Baseball - 1.Boyd County (7-1): The Lions roared past previously #1 West Carter 91-59 last week, ending the Comets #1 ranking and keeping the Lions undefeated streak going. Boyd County defeated Campbell County Wyoming 81-52 in the Tarkanian Classic @ Bishop Gorman NV. That was just one of 4 games for the Lions. By Les - 1. Harlan County (8-0 overall, 4-0 vs. 13th Region competition) The Black Bears remained unbeaten after defeating Barbourville (78-43), Lee, Va. (54-42) and Harlan (77-43). Their 8-0 start is ranks second best in school history, ranking behind their 11-0 start to begin the 2012-13 campaign. Just how good is Harlan County? By Walter - Usually not much movement in the rankings during this time of the year, as most teams are playing in holiday tournaments around the state, but we do have a few changes in the rankings this week at the bottom of the top 10: 1. Covington Catholic (7-1) The Colonels got dealt their first defeat of the season in a road loss to Cincinnati Moeller (60-51) despite AJ Mayer posting a double double of 10 points, 18 rebounds. While Meade County seems to be the clear cut #1 team, there is not much margin between being #1 and #8. By Jesse James - #1 Mercer County on Monday night traveled to 12th region rival Danville to take on the Lady Ads. Mercer disposed of the Admirals 90-54 with a 26-point performance by UL commit Seygan Robins. East Jessamine was the next victim as they fell to the Lady Titans 79-22. Mercer County is off this week to the Nike Tourney of Champions, if they can get a flight. :) #2 Male traveled to Fern Creek Tuesday night and picked up a nice 83-63 win. Trinity is still without the services of possible Player of the Year in Jacob King but have still mostly been playing up to expectations.
