BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 1-1-18

By mcpapa - This was the week where none of the top teams in the 10th, given the chance to take the number one ranking by the throat and run with it, were able to do so. By default, our top three remain in their respective spots after the holiday tournament action was over and done with. 1. Campbell County (12-2, 5-0 region). The Camels went 2-1 in the Gateway Holiday Classic at Mount Sterling. Campbell broke open a close game in the third quarter to defeat Anderson County in the first-round game; winning 65-44. Reid Jolly went out with a sprained ankle early in the semifinal against Boyle County... Read More →

By Les - 1. Knox Central (12-1 overall, 3-0 vs. 13th Region competition) The Panthers remain at the top of the region after knocking off Corbin on the road to capture the Cumberland Falls Invitational championship. Senior guard Markelle Turner was named tournament MVP after scoring 24 points during Knox Centralís 73-61 win over the Redhounds. Jaylen Adams added 22 points while Dane Imel finished with 13 points in the win. Tony Pattersonís squad has now won two big tournament championships (WYMT Mountain Classic and now the CFIT), but knows the season wonít be a complete success unless if they... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 16th Week 5 in Review

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball Week 5 Week 5 in the 16th Region was like everywhere else in the state, Holiday Tournament time. The AIT stood out this year with a Boyd County Ashland game reminiscent of the late nineties. It was good to see, as the rest of the region struggles to find itself still. Tournaments in Greenup and Bath County were competitive but not necessarily well played at all times. The teams in the Region that travelled outside to play during the holiday season didnít fare as well as they wouldíve hope, Iím sure. It sounds like an excuse, but if the cumulative property... BluegrassPreps.com's Seventh Region update and rankings - 1/1/18

By Smallhoops - The teams of the Seventh Region displayed the Regionís depth this week, as multiple teams won holiday tournaments. Trinity went to Roebuck, South Carolina and won the Farm Bureau Insurance Classic; Ballard won the Apollo Fairfield Inn Invitational in Owensboro; Male won the City of Middletown Holiday Classic; and Seneca won the Stultz Pharmacy Holiday Classic at Greenup County. Other teams played well against teams from other regions, including Easternís impressive 73-71 win over Owensboro. And Collegiate continues to be the winningest team in the state. A lot of time will be spent... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 5th Region Weekly Rankings (12/31/17)

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (12-2): John went 3 and 1 this week in the Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops Classic. Started it off with a 72-70 win over Paducah Tilghman in overtime. They lost to Pulaski 82-76, beat Clay County 93-67, and beat Dupont Manuel 63-53. John played a lot of good teams, and their one loss was to a very good Pulaski County team. Mickey Pearson had a 47 and 15 game vs Clay County. He continues to show why he is a Mr. Basketball candidate. If John could get Witherspoon back, good luck to the rest of the 5th region. 2. Larue County (11-1): The Hawks continued their winning ways as... Read More →

Inside the 4th Region (12/31/17)

By DragonFire - Can I just say how completely crazy and inconsistent this region has been so far? I feel 100% confident in the top two. 100% confident in the next three - in some order. Beyond that? They're all beating each other. Fourth Region Rankings 1) Warren Central (11-2) - 12/27 67-53 W Holmes (at Ohio County), 12/28 60-56 OT W Marshall County (at Ohio County), 12/29 84-67 W at Ohio County Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 1/5 at #8 Warren East, 1/6 at #3 Barren County The Dragons are at their best mark through 13 games in 15 years, and rebounded from a poor showing in Oldham County to win... BluegrassPreps.com 6th Region Weekly Rankings (01/01/2018) *Early Edition*

By coachlee - The top 6 teams in the 6th region are all very close, not a lot separates them. Fern Creek has now won 19 6th region games in a row between the last two seasons and until someone in the 6th knocks them off they remain #1. Butler deserves #2 after winning all of their games this season so far. But those two are not going to run away from the pack as this region is so very competitive at the top. When January comes around in Metro Louisville, everyone associated with High School basketball gets excited for the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT) that kicks off beginning the 2nd week... BluegrassPreps.com 2nd Region Week 4 Review & Rankings

By silo11 - Not a whole lot of movement this week in the rankings. There was a big upset in Livingston Central defeating Webster County, but it didnít affect the rankings. There is some improvement in teams near the bottom of the region and could see some movement in the coming weeks. Unless Hopkinsville gets their players back, donít expect anything from them this year. This currently is a two horse race between UHA and Christian County and the top two scorers in the state. 1. Christian County Ė Coach Kerry Stovall *BGP #19 2017-18 record: 8-1 Weekís Record: 3-0 Last Weeks Rank: 1 ... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 6th Region Weekly Rankings (12/26)

By coachlee - As we turn the page and enter the 2018 part of the 2017/2018 season, the 6th region has made a pretty convincing showing that this is the toughest region in the Commonwealth. It would take some convincing to dispute that any region can put up 6 teams as strong as the Top 6 teams in this week's rankings from the 6th. Case in point, the #1 ranked Tigers are the KOB champions who beat the #1 & #2 teams in the state rankings on their way to their 1st ever KOB title. The 6th ranked team this week is Doss who has only lost to Fern Creek, Christian County, and Lafayette who is doing very well... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 12-25-17

By mcpapa - Last week's number two and number three both made strong statements last week and separated themselves from the rest of of the pack, but there was little if any movement at the top when all was said and done. Our number one hasn't lost since the first game of the season and our next two teams have won eleven straight between them. Let's get to it. 1. Campbell County (10-1, 4-0 region). Maybe some of the games have been closer that some think they should have been (in fact, the 5-point win over Newport on December 14 may in retrospect be a better result that originally rated), but Coach... Bluegrasspreps.com 2017 - Inside the 8th Region - Week 4 12-25-17

By ColonelMike - Busy week in the 8th, and we learned a lot this past week about some of our teams. I'll keep today's recap short as I'm buried, like most of you, in family events today. Remember, the below rankings are NOT future predictions, but rather, where I see the teams TODAY. 1. Oldham County (11-0) - LAST WEEK: 1A Oldham County is one of just 5 teams left in the Commonwealth that have yet to lose to Kentucky competition. This past week was truly an impressive week for the Colonels as they gave the 8th Region probably its two biggest wins outside of the region so far this year. Oldham... Read More →
