By Bac2369 - The high school football regular season has ended and the playoffs start this week. Those team that made the playoffs will have a chance and start over at 0-0. The 6A top 10 didnít have many games last week. Male, Butler, Trinity, Scott County , and Simon Kenton all finished there seasons the week before and had a chance to rest and get healthy for a playoff run. But we did have the #1 #2, #6, #9 and #10 teams in action. #1 Frederick Douglass traveled to Northern Kentucky to take on Conner. This game was a good test for both teams before a playoff push. BluegrassPreps Class 5A Football Playoff Preview

By DevilMayCare - Region I (District 1 vs. District 2) On paper, this is the most loaded region in 5A. Three of the top seven teams in this class call R1 home. South Warren, Bowling Green, and Owensboro are all worthy of a deep playoff run, but only one will survive long enough to see it happen. In fact, one of them is assured of a disappointing second round exit. Two of the most highly anticipated rematches of the season in 5A are a distinct possibility within this region, and the outcome of the first one will decide if the second even comes to pass. But before we get caught up in being presumptuous, let's... Read More →

BluegrassPreps Class 6A Football Playoff Preview

By Ram - Region 1: (District 1 vs. District 4) McCracken County (7-3) basically won the district title and the #1 seed for the playoffs two weeks ago. Even though McCracken County last played against Muhlenberg County, most knew this game would be a mismatch. They got a week off before the playoffs start to rest and get the injured healed up for what they hope is a state title run. McCracken County has put up a total of 311 points on the season and averaging 31.1 points per game. Quarterback Elijah Wheat is a big part of the success, throwing for close to 1400 yards and 15 touchdowns. Franklin... Read More →

BluegrassPreps Class 1A Football Playoff Preview

By Ram - REGION 1 Region 1 is shaping up a lot like last year. Campbellsville and Crittenden County have been solidly ranked at #6 and #7 in the 1A top ten all year. They opened the season there and lived up to their billing all season. Each team has one quality loss on the season. These two teams are the strong favorites to get to a rematch of last year’s regional final. Crittenden County should have no trouble with Caverna in round 1. From there the Rockets will face the winner of Bethlehem and Fulton County. The Fulton County Pilots have been one of the feel good stories in 1A this season.... Read More →

BluegrassPreps Football Rankings (10/29)

By Ram - Class 1A At first glance, one would see that in the final week of the season there was not a single Top 10 team in Class 1A who took a loss and assume it was a pretty quiet end of the Regular Season. In fact, several teams were actually challenged and firmly in competitive games that were not decided until the 4th Quarter. Beechwood will end the year ranked #1, yet the Tigers were pushed by 2A Newport Central Catholic. Three other teams in the Top 10 - Hazard, Raceland, and Campbellsville, all won by single score margins. Don't expect any dramatics in Round 1 from the Top 10. The playoff... Read More →

By PurplePride92 - As we wind down to the end of the season the chance for movement continues to get more slim each week. Other than that the teams remain the same with a little bit of adjusting due to Henry Clay losing their starting quarterback and clearly being a whole new team without him. As we enter the last week of the regular season there arenít many intriguing matchups and most teams are focusing on team health instead of team success in this final week of the regular. Class 4A Notebook (10/23): The Favorites Are Who We Thought They Were

By DragonFire - Johnson Central and Franklin-Simpson have spent the year ranked #1 and #2. Ashland has spent the entire year ranked #3 despite being unbeaten, while the two ahead suffered losses in the first four weeks of the year. BluegrassPreps Rankings (10/22)

By Ram - Class 1A The very best television shows and movies will save the most dramatic plot twist for the end for dramatic emphasis. When Paintsville shocked Raceland last week 6-0, it became the cliff hanger that made an already stellar eastern semi-state just a bit more dramatic. Raceland now need a win over rival 3A Russell to regain their posture heading into November. Another eastern Kentucky district was decided when Lynn Camp saw their undefeated dreams come crashing to the tune of the 72 points scored by Williamsburg.
