By Sportslover32 - The year started out with 18 teams and now we are down to only 4 teams left in the 5th Region. 3 of the 4 teams left was in the same spot as they were last year. BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Tournament Preview

By mcpapa - Finally - the regional tournament is upon us. Some of the district tourney games were closer than expected, but the tournament played out pretty much as expected, with all four favorites cutting the nets last week. In this old hoops fan's humble opinion, there are two favorites, and three more that can get hot and make it to Rupp if the proverbial ball bounces their way. The two favorites: 1. Clark County (28-4, 14-1 region). The Cardinals breezed by Bourbon County in the 40th district semis behind Will Philpot's 21 (18 in the first half) and Jordan Graham's 20 (16 of them in the... BluegrassPreps.com - 2018 8th Region Tournament Preview

By ColonelMike - Well, it finally is here. The annual pilgrimage to The Roy in New Castle. It all started in 1963, right after Henry County HS built the big gym near the center of the 8th region. The 8th region had been held in 1962 at Shelbyville HS, and the Henry County Wildcats had won the affair. Now it moved to the big, shiny new arena in New Castle, patterned after the old Freedom Hall. 55 seasons and 385 tournament games later, the 8th is still played annually at what we now call the "Roy L. Winchester Gymnasium" or, more typically, simply "The Roy". It's the longest stretch of time that... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 6th Region Regional Previews

By coachlee - Dating back to 2011, there has been repeat 6th region champions in consecutive years by three different programs: Bullitt East (2011 & 2012), Pleasure Ridge Park (2013 & 2014) and Doss (2015 & 2016). Last year Fern Creek started their opportunity to continue that repeat streak by winning the 6th region in 2017. At least 4 other teams have a good shot to stop Fern Creek from being the fourth in line of that streak of repeat championships in the 6th. That list begins with Doss, Butler, PRP, and Fairdale but Fern Creek has their eyes set on continuing the trend. Jeffersontown is a long shot... Read More →

Six of the teams (Ballard, Central, Male, Manual, St. Xavier, and Trinity) have played in the tournament every year since the 2011-12 season. Eastern has only missed one year (last year).
