Bluegrasspreps.com 2017 - Inside the 8th Region - Week 4 12-25-17

By ColonelMike - Busy week in the 8th, and we learned a lot this past week about some of our teams. I'll keep today's recap short as I'm buried, like most of you, in family events today. Remember, the below rankings are NOT future predictions, but rather, where I see the teams TODAY. 1. Oldham County (11-0) - LAST WEEK: 1A Oldham County is one of just 5 teams left in the Commonwealth that have yet to lose to Kentucky competition. This past week was truly an impressive week for the Colonels as they gave the 8th Region probably its two biggest wins outside of the region so far this year. Oldham... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 5th Region Weekly Rankings (12/24/17)

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (9-1): John had a busy week, which was successful until the last game of the week, where they had their first loss of the year. John beat Larue 76-56 which was a statement win. They then played a Christmas tourney in Oldham County. They beat Grant County 84-62, beat Desales 78-59, and lost in title game to host Oldham County 88-60. Even though they lost big their last game, beating Larue County the way they did, isn’t a good sign for the rest of the 5th region. Pearson and Wright continue to be a strong 1/ 2 punch. 2. Larue County (8-1): Larue had a good week, even though... Read More →

A 30 point win over district rival Letcher Central 78-48 and a thrilling 66-62 win over Louisville Central in the KY Bank Challenge at Rowan County. The Patriots will now head to Lexington Catholic to participate in the Traditional Bank classic and will open up with Henderson County. 2. Perry County Central (5-4):... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com's Seventh Region update and rankings - 12/24/17

By Smallhoops - T'was the day before Christmas . . . And we no longer have any undefeated teams in the Seventh Region. Trinity fell to Fern Creek in the championship game of the King of the Bluegrass. Waggener lost twice, to Scott County and George Rogers Clark. But we do have the winningest team in the Commonwealth in the Louisville Collegiate Titans. Already at 12 wins, the Titans look like they will easily eclipse the school-record 18 wins they recorded last year. This week brings a mixture of more holiday tournaments. Nothing as big as last week’s King of the Bluegrass tournament, which... Read More →

16th Region Bluegrasspreps.com Week 4 Ranking

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball Week 4 Ashland suffered their first defeat of the season this week to George Rogers Clark, while another top Region team, Boyd County, dropped a game to Estill County. The remainder of the region performed about as expected, with a couple of exceptions, including a 95-point night for Fairview over Menifee County. Greenup’s Hughes is playing well and putting up big points consistently. Unfortunately, what most are already aware of, the region isn’t competing very well against the rest of the state. The teams top to bottom in the 16th are mostly competitive with... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 2nd Region Week 3 Review

By silo11 - Not a whole lot of movement this week in the rankings. Almost all teams won the games they were supposed to so no real upsets took place although some of the games were definitely closer than predicted. We are getting ready to enter into the Holiday Tournaments. Some teams will play some tough schedules, but not a whole lot should change between now and when district play gets into action in early January. 1. Christian County – Coach Kerry Stovall *BGP #19 2017-18 record: 5-1 Week’s Record: 2-0 Last Weeks Rank: 1 Detorrion Ware continued his tear this week scoring 32 against... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 12-18-17

By mcpapa - Week 3 is history. Not too much change in the rankings, as the top teams performed about as expected. School is out (in lots of places, anyway), and we're in for a couple of weeks of holiday tournaments. My avatar got married yesterday. Just another week at the office. Here's last week's recap: 1. Campbell County (7-1, 3-0 region). The Camels were victorious in all three of their games last wee, running their winning streak to 7. The season-opening loss to Cooper is a fading memory. First was an 86-59 manhandling of previously unbeaten Paris that saw 4 Camels hit double figures,... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com Inside the 8th Region - Week 3 12-18-17

By ColonelMike - OK, truthfully, I've been dreading this moment. I have to choose. Oldham County or Walton-Verona. The Colonels or the Bearcats. One of the two shiniest up-and-coming stars in the coaching ranks. Two teams with some great individual talents. The region's number one offense - or its number one scoring defense. Ever since Oldham County's 53-51 win over the Cats on Friday, I've gone back and forth in my mind... the clarity between the two still isn't there, even after a head-to-head matchup. And what a matchup it was....the intensity level was post-season caliber, and it lasted all... Read More →

By SHS Future - 2017-2018 12th Region Weekly Updates It was a great week of basketball last week as records were broken and some teams are getting off to the best start they have had in a few years.
