4th Region Week 7 Review

By DragonFire - 1) Bowling Green (13-2) - 1/8 85-50 W at #11 South Warren Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 1/15 at Christian County, 1/18 vs. #12 Warren East, 1/19 at #3 Warren Central The Purples were unexpectedly treated to a quiet week when their showdown with Warren Central was postponed eight days. That meant their road trip to South Warren was their only game this week, and they erupted for their highest point total since scoring 92 against Glasgow in the second game of the year. The win comes as no surprise. Bowling Green is rolling and they are now a perfect 21-0 against South Warren. None of... Read More →

12th Region Week 7 Review: A New Contender?

By TDC - Week 7 included several big District contests, a couple of minor upsets, and the overnight emergence of a new contender for the Region crown. And while all these intra-District games may be helping things get clearer across the Region, the picture in the 45th District has become muddled as two key players that have been out with injury have returned for Boyle County, likely making them an immediate contender. It is too early to tell exactly how they will stack up against the Region’s best, but initial indications are that they will be in, or at least very near, the top tier. This should... Read More →

Cooper at Covington Catholic Predictions

By B-Ball-fan - It is without doubt the biggest and most anticipated regular season game in the 9th Region this basketball season. The game is being played at Covington Catholic and will likely sell out before the doors open. Big time Friday night prime time basketball at its finest, and I know that I can't wait. Both teams seem to be riding high playing some of their best ball as of late. CovCath is basically at full strength minus Michael Mayer who we still don't know when he'll be seen in action. He's always on the bench with the team, so one can only assume that his game is in the works.... Read More →

Region 8 Week 6 in Review - Collins Remains #1

By ColonelMike - The 8th Region wrapped up Week number 6 last week, and we finally starting getting some hints – not answers, mind you, just hints – of which way this season is going. Top-ranked Collins knocked off two dark-horse candidates for the region title, and they did it in convincing fashion…Simon Kenton knocked off Walton-Verona, ranked #2 in the region last week…SK also got another quality win over an out of region team. South Oldham extended their region-best winning streak (5 games)…Oldham County followed up a tough loss with a victory over the pre-season favorite to win the sixth region…and... Read More →

10th Region Week 6 in Review - The Diagnosis Heard 'round the Commonwealth

By mcpapa - Unfortunately, the biggest 10th region news story of the week wasn't a game or a tournament or an individual highlight reel, but the torn ACL diagnosis of Pendleton County's Mr. Basketball candidate Dontaie Allen. DA suffered the injury in the first half in a game against Cooper before Christmas and hadn't appeared since; and the diagnosis was confirmed last week. Allen was leading the state in points and rebounds, but will not get the chance to qualify as a "state leader"; the requisite number of games to be considered being 20. We wish him the best as he recovers, and much success as he... Read More →

Through 17 games, Maurice Tolley and Willard Minter are averaging double figures in scoring for 6th Region frontrunner Butler. 2. Bullitt Central (11-4): The Cougars opened 2019 with a split in Week 6, falling to Meade County before knocking off North Hardin on a neutral floor at Adair County High School as part of the Lindsey Wilson College Classic. 16th Region Week 6 Review: Elliott County and Everyone Else

By Carson Palmer - The 16th Region continues to be Elliott County a cut above of the rest of the teams. The rankings from spots 2-14 continue to fluctuate from week to week. A prime example of the parity was Morgan County defeating previously undefeated Rowan County Friday but then losing to district rival West Carter on Saturday. Let's take a look at this week's rankings. 1. ELLIOTT COUNTY (11-2) The Lions roared to a 104-76 win over Lewis County on Thursday as Korbin Spencer poured in 43 points. A long road trip to Muhlenberg County resulted in a tough overtime loss to the highly regarded Muhlenberg County... Read More →

1st Region Week 6 Review: Will he be eligible?

By silo11 - The big game this week was Graves County vs Mayfield in a District 3 showdown. Mayfield came out on top, even without one of their big guns. McCracken also showed signs of vulnerability as they pulled out two extremely tight games. Paducah and Murray continue to play well, but still need to improve. Marshall is waiting on news whether one of the best players in the nation will join them by week’s end. And the All “A” Classic games are almost upon us. Here are the rankings for week 6: 1. McCracken County – Coach Burlin Brower BGP #11 2018-19 record: 13-1 Week’s Record: 2-0 The... Read More →

13th Region Week 6 Review

By Les - 1. Knox Central (13-2 overall, 4-1 vs. 13th Region competition) The Panthers are beginning to hit on all cylinders, but coach Tony Patterson believes there is room for improvement. Knox Central managed to capture the 13th Region Class 2A Tournament championship this past week by defeating both Jackson County and Bell County. The Panthers will now advance to the Class 2A Section 4 championship while also earning an automatic bid into the Class 2A State Tournament in two weeks. 2. Clay County (16-0, 6-0) The Tigers are one of the few remaining unbeaten teams in the 13th Region after... Read More →

9th Region Week 6 Review: A lot of movement from #3 all the way to the end.

By PP1 - It has been an active week in the 9th Region. Covington Catholic flexed their muscle against a tough Newport team, Highlands is scuffling with a losing streak, and Bellevue almost made our headline. The season is about half over and we are starting to get a feel for district seeds as we await the beginning of the All A Tournament. Every team in the region has a digit in the win column now and it will be fun to see who can get hot at the right time. 1. Cooper (13-2): Cooper played once last week and defeated Boone County by 18. I do not see them leaving the #1 spot unless several things... Read More →

5th Region Week 6 Review

By Sportslover32 - 1. Larue County (12-2): The Hawks continued their great year by winning both games this week. They beat Campbellsville 63-33 at home and beat district opponent Green County 72-57 at home. Larue has done what many have expected from them so far, which is be a very good basketball team. They are a team who has 4 players who could be the guy any given night. In the win over Campbellsville Noah Davis and Anthony Adkins had 19 points each to lead Larue. 2. John Hardin (13-0): The Bulldogs continue to do nothing but win as they won their only game this week. They beat Owensboro Catholic at home... Read More →

The top 3 teams in the Region have started to reveal themselves while the middle of the pack is trying to figure out who really wants to be here. The 43rd District remains as crazy as ever and 2 LONG streaks remained intact for another week. Team Rankings 1. 2nd Region Week 6 Review

By silo11 - No big changes in this week’s rankings. Webster County dropped a few spots after their loss. Things will start to pick up as more teams play each other in the region over the next month and a half. Madisonville has the chance to break into the BGP top 20 soon if they can keep playing like they have been. Everyone else is looking up at UHA and MNC. There is a pretty significant gap after those two teams. Here are week 6 rankings: 1. University Heights Academy – Coach Grant Shouse BGP#5 2018-19 record: 11-2 Week’s Record: 1-0 The Blazers defeated Murray 76-66 at Mustang... Read More →
